2011 the 5.3 was an engine option, so engine mounts have a part number... As the owner of a regular cab 2wd, the thought has crossed my mind many times...

Front brakes are easy compared to dealing with the asinine e-brake cable on the back.
The fronts only take 10-20 minutes longer than any other set of front disks.
I happen to have 2 of them that may well become hot rods after the company isndone using them up.
Not here in the north. By the time the pads get used up, there is usually a healthy bit of rust on the rotors, requiring them to be replaced or resurfaced. And the hubs never come out intact, because they are usually rusted into the knuckle, same as the wheel speed sensor. And trying to go the hub out, you end up hammering and damaging the rotor. So, by the time you are done, you are replacing both front wheel bearings, both front wheel speed sensors, front rotors and front pads. Have it done at a dealer with GM parts and it's a $1000+ everytime you need front brakes.

I never replace pads without replacing rotors. As you point out, the rotors are usually the reason why the pads are getting replaced.
And I don't get what is so difficult about rear shoes on a Colorado. The e-brake cable mechanism was made for rapid assembly, you just BAP the cable into the shoe. Takes no time at all.

Reason 4000 to not live in the land of salted roads.
And putting the cable together isn't the issue. Its getting them apart.
