That is why Ford specified that the RS200 must use the glass from a Sierra when they contracted the design to one of the big studios. They wanted a decent sized greenhouse because the purpose of the car was to be a good rally car, not a showstopper, and they knew that by placing that restriction they would not get some undrivable doorstop looking thing.
"Are you saying I offend you? Because I'm feeling offended...."
"As you post a car that one needed to be no taller than about 5'4 to drive," he grumbled..
Oh yeah, and there is the part where the doors are wide enough that you can stash your helmets in them. Flip side is that you are literally shoulder to shoulder with your navigator and shifting requires that you be very comfortable with each other.
Note that the Stratos was mid engined, and had a shorter wheelbase than a Miata. It was *tiny*.
You wrote all that like it's a bad thing? Because I see reasons to want one:

Since you brought it up... The last plowable storm a couple of weeks ago was the first of the season. All the local stations send their morning reporters out with a camera crew to get their snowmageddon shots because it's not like it ever snows here... To set the scene, one young lady was standing in a rest area but very close to the edge of the breakdown lane giving her report live. I'm watching as a plow passes first in the high speed shoulder, then the high speed lane, then the center. (You get the picture, it's a line of plows.) I mention to my wife, she's gonna get wet if she doesn't move soon... Sure enough, slow speed lane and finally breakdown lane. She get's covered by the last plow. Squeals / laughter so we know she's OK. I hope she killed the camera guy off screen. LOL. Meme related:

Looking at you LS oil pump oring with the pan on. On the 4wd trucks, to drop the pan requires also dropping the front diff to get to the o ring with any real space. It can can done but it was nearly impossible. I had to tie fishing line to the bolt so it wouldn't drop in the pan. Then I used hemostats to tighten the bolt ever ever so slightly. When the bolt engaged the threads I felt like these images. Way worse than the Miata plug from hell.
