Aside from that, you also have a college degree, "degree" specific for your industry, and fluency in English.

Still not following what this has to do with minimum wage.

My motivation to do better exists independent of minimum wage. If mw was raised I would be just as motivated.

No, I admit I do not have proof.
Fixed that for you.
What proof do you have that raising the minimum wage will make people better? Do you really believe that the people with minimum skills are making the best financial decisions? Will they suddenly decide that the extra $40 that week will go into the 401k? People that want to do better, do whatever it takes to make it happen, they don't just expect it. Anyone can do better in this country if they want to.
I was simply addressing Fritsch's post asking for proof that raising the Minimum wage would create more unemployment. Bobzilla did not give an answer (I assume because he does not know, or does not like his answer), so I fixed that. FWIW, I for the most part agree with you (Datsun). But keep the discussion an actual discussion--if someone asks a question, actually answer it or admit that you (the general you) don't know.

I answered the question. You just didn't like the answer.

Minimum wage is not going up to what I have been making. If it did I would use it as a tool to bargain a better wage.

No, you didn't. An answer would have been "No, I do not" (or some variation thereof), or "Yes, here is the proof". You did neither, but asked him a question, and he did show you his proof.

Holy E36 M3 you are being a pedantic ass about this.

Here was my answer:

Do you have proof the other way? Nope

I highlighted the answer to both his, and my question. This shouldn't be that hard people.

No it isn't. You are describing taxing and getting nothing in return. A correct analogy would be to say that because I am earning more, I should go buy new clothes, pay a bit more for them, and tip my server a bit higher. Yup. Doing that.

I apologize if I came off as an ass, but to me your answer read as a question to Fritsch, stating that No, Fritsch did not have proof while neglecting to answer his original question.

Clarity is important, folks.

And where have I said that? Let me answer that: I haven't. Apparently it's just easier to throw out strawmen than to actually focus on what is being said.

I have read it a few times and it clearly says the opposite...

Except for the fact that you'd have more people on unemployment....

I don't think Bob was saying people would be lazy, I assume he meant that employers would just outsource or automate.

Then the company will be able to get top talent for the wage they offer. The wage people make is based on the value they bring to the table. If you bring value, you get rewarded

One of the oft suggested solutions for people who don't want a minimum wage job is to find a new job. It is relevant to note that that won't always be possible. This is also relevant for people who claim ending unemployment benefits will make people go find a job, not that I have seen that in this thread. Hard to find a new job when there are no jobs

Those are some rose colored glasses you have on there. I have worked MW jobs in my past. Most of those types of jobs don't have a lot of room for promotion. My first job payed MW, after a couple of months I found a software flaw that led to a lot of customer complaints. Up until I found this flaw, the mistakes were blamed on me. What was my reward? I got a 25 cent raise! Yes I was no longer MW anymore, but was that a significant upgrade for going above and beyond? It makes more sense for a company to bring in another drone at MW than to promote everybody that does a great job.

So all those who want to keep the MW as is- Do we keep it at the current level forever?

As for those who make more than minimum wage and have obvious envy that these lower class people are getting raises and you are not, go work for a company that will give you the same raise. Once more Costco becomes the beacon of great employers. Besides starting at good wages, having health care (even for part timers), gives vacation time, they raise the wages of (all) their workers as MW goes up.
