Okay
Maybe he means me.
I didn't do it! I didn't do it! I wasn't even there! I was at a friend's house! The check is in the mail!
Some people just need a tourniquet around their neck, to stop the bleeding of words from their mouths.
jimbob_racing said:Now work is saying that everybody is going to a shift bid system. Every quarter, work will use our somewhat secretive metrics and have people bid on shifts that cover operational hours from 800am to 800pm. Berkeley that.
They may just be counting on the senior guys saying berkeley that and leaving.
You want to lock your building down so no one can enter or leave? Have you heard of the life safety codes? You are running an elder care facility so I would certainly hope you have. Close to 200 people are living in that building. Have you lost your mind?
There are some very specific requirements to secure a building like that and you do not meet any of them. You are neither a psych ward nor a memory care facility. There is zero chance your AHJ will sign off on what you want.
No, my company will not be involved in doing what you want without authorization from the AHJ. Not only is is wrong on many levels, when your building burns to the ground with 200 elderly people in it, I don't want my name on the front page of the paper. I also don't want to be sitting beside you in jail.
People like you are the reason we have all these damn regulations to start with so do it by the book you cheap bastard.
In reply to Toyman! :
This sounds so stupid it must be an independent. Even the PE firms buying up nursing facilities can't be that dumb.
In reply to eastsideTim :
It's a big outfit that owns 20-30 of them. I think the GM for this particular facility is just an idiot who thinks he can do whatever he wants and doesn't like it when people tell him no.
It will probably lead to getting us kicked out of the facility which may cause a few tips to be dropped to corporate relating to unsafe buildings and proper forms of egress. Stupidity like that needs to be rooted out before it leads to a lot of people being needlessly injured or killed.
In reply to Toyman! :
Yeah, I hope it doesn't go any higher than the building admin. Definitely a good idea to stay as far away from that as possible.

In reply to Pete. (l33t FS) :
Also the Station nightclub fire in RI and Cocoanut Grove fire in Boston.

Both of which are still used as examples in the annotated version of the Life Safety Code.

A friend of mine survived this fire.
Rant of the day is that all of my cars are breaking at once and it's inconvenient. It's making me consider buying something newer and more reliable which makes me sad, I've been enjoying having no car payments.

Probably less danger of a mob torch job at a skilled nursing facility, though. On a side note, if you're ever in Vegas there's a pretty cool exhibit in the Mob Museum that covers Newport and BHSC.
Im trying to save you money and downtime by exploring options. Vnot call you incompetent. Mo need to cuss me
Ah, the waste of tech!
I call customers and leave a message on their voice mail because the customer does not answer. I get a call a few minutes later, someone from there called me.
Yeah, I did.
I tried placing an order with a company I've bought from before. My card was declined a few times. I called them and they cannot see any attempted transactions. I get some line about how their fraud prevention software must have flagged my account and to please use Paypal instead.
The mouse elimination program hit an unexpected hitch today when one of the mouse traps went missing. I either didn't put it where I thought I did, or something pretty big dragged it off.
Two traps were triggered, but didn't have mice in them.
So far, the mice ar winning. I may have to construct a 5 gallon bucket mouse trap.
I am very much not accustomed to having this much actual work to do. Especially at this time of the year. I think it's been about 25 years since I've worked a December....
In reply to Brett_Murphy (Agent of Chaos) :
Mouse trap placement is critical to success. The bait must be along a wall or corner they travel with the snap away from the wall. You don't want the snap to throw the mouse out of the trap. Placed as below, the wall keeps that from happening. Use the original traps and use peanut butter as bait.

This entire year has been insane. We are constantly behind schedule and frantically trying to catch up. Tomorrow was supposed to be a shop day to clean up and catch our breath. There is so much work to be done that's been canceled. The perpetual disaster will have to continue for another week or so and that's driving my slightly OCD admin slightly insane.
