This was an 8088 machine with 640K, 2 built in 360K floppies, built in parallel and serial ports. It came with MSDOS 3.1 and ran the software of the time...WordStar, dBase III, etc.
It sold for around $2500 depending on what extras you wanted. "
I still have it and the monitor in my basement.
Your mother didn't love you enough to get you the Banana Jr 6000?
What's worse than having a car with no spare tire? Having a wife that tears them up two at a time. For people keeping track these are her third and forth flats of 2016. Tonight's were from chunk of metal being kicked into her lane by a passing truck. Usually she doesn't do this until well into pothole season.
Edit: She missed the piece of metal and went of the edge of the pavement
I'm thinking of getting her a roof rack for Christmas
In reply to Wall-e:
Maybe switching her car to steelies as a cost saving venture?
Obligatory rant:
No, ma'am, we at Costco photo do not alphabetize every print order.
That would be an insane waste of time and we're not idiots, sooo... we don't.
All the A's are together, and the B's, and so forth.

Yikes! I have that exact set of wheels (5 lug though and probably different size) sitting in my storage shed. Looks like the wheel hit the curb at JUST the right spot to bend it in! Too bad i'm not in NY anymore or i'd offer you some cash for the wrecked wheels. I need some cast aluminum to melt in my foundry...
My rant- i'm getting a cold. I can feel it. I'm not happy about it.
In reply to SnowMongoose:
The steelies are wafer thin and not much cheaper. She ovaled 5 of them before we switched. Every 500 I see on them has at least one bent one and missing hubcap.
In reply to Rufledt:
I have three of them you'd be welcome to. The best part about these wheels is that they change the design slightly every so often so now I will have three different same wheels.
I suggested in the future she could drive a little slower and she thinks I should look into a more robust wheel. I'm just afraid a better wheel would move the carnage to more expensive suspension pieces.

Hey man, not much you can do when those curbs and potholes jump out of nowhere
In reply to mtn:
True but we don't need to hit all of them at 70 mph

Are those 14's or 15's? If 15's, why not put some 14's on it... or hell, would 13's fit? Get a lot more rubber that way--I think 175/70/13 is the same diameter as 185/60/14
All of my adult life I have enjoyed better than normal human vision. Lately, I've been having trouble driving/riding at night due to glare. I also hadn't noticed that I've been moving the menu further away and that maybe I don't enjoy reading as much because my arms are not that long.
On top of the murky news that I now share age related near and far sightedness with the average filthy rabble of humanity... I got a bill for $600 for my first ever glasses. That was my portion, after "best coverage in the business" insurance. WTF. Do I really need polycarb, scratchproof, polarized, auto-tinting progressive bifocals? I guess.
It will be good to see again but I guess I won't be looking at a new milling machine this xmas.

Go to Costco next time.
And yeah. Bifocals are flippin expensive. Skip the auto-tint. Anti glare is good as is scratchproof.

I like the photogrey. I find the antiscratch stuff to be snake oil.
I gave up and made myself put glasses on the morning of my 45th birthday. It took two weeks for my brain to recalibrate, and I wear them every waking hour now. I'm corrected to 20-10, and other than fog and rain, I am fine with them.
I kept my last set of bifocals for racing when I went to progressives. Peripheral vision is compromised, and cinched down with a hans, etc, I wasn't a fan, particularly on the oval.

I just received a confirmation email that my Zenni order shipped today. Two pairs; one metal frame, one plastic frame, both poly and progressive lenses w/anti-scratch and anti-glare, both with accessory clip-on sunshades for $200 - total. The order was place just two weeks ago.
Others may have had different experiences, but my previous purchases have been more than worth the money so it was easy to do it again.

Zenni rocks.
My insurance started again earlier this year for vision, so I went to the local glasses emporium, tried to get every deal they had on the cheapest stuff they had for a rimless set, and it came to some silly $200 amount, and I took my current Zenni pair off and said to the dude "Listen, I have paid for insurance, and you're telling me that with all of your deals and specials in addition to the insurance, I still cannot touch a pair like these for $45 that I have had for two years?"
Then I placed an order for the exact same frames from Zenni. Their magnetic sunglasses came with, but I bought an extra pair for $5.

Unfortunately i've moved to WI and that's quite a drive! I imagine shipping on wheels would be pretty pricey, as well.

Note to self... post here before going to the eye doctor.
Rumor has it that while eyes don't generally get better, they do get worse with alarming frequency. It's too late to save me from the bill this time but - next time I'll give Zenni a try.
In reply to Huckleberry:
If it helps you feel better, I'm on year 3 of my $600 scratch proof auto tint glass lenses. My fault buying them at the doctors, but that was with a cash discount. I usually get 4 to 5 years out of a pair though. It's normally the frames that go for me before the prescription or the lenses.
It's 6 pm and it's been fully dark for almost an hour. Thank the FSM for the blessed return of the life giving ball of fire because this SUCKS!
Remind me again why I don't chuck it all and go tend bar in the Caribbean......oh yeah "responsibilities". Gag

Yes.
I was in a hurry when I got my current glasses, couldn't wait the 2 weeks it'd take to get the good stuff. The in-stock lenses they had don't have the anti glare coating. I want to stop every truck, minivan, SUV, and anything with HIDs that is behind me and extinguish their lights with a hammer. All lenses are reflective, bright lights behind you mean you can't see anything in front of you.
The good lenses would also run $1200, which is the other reason why I still haven't got them.
Holy berkeleying E36 M3, Whole Foods! I do not like this store. It is overpriced and gimmicky. The baroness does like it.
Went with her to get groceries for a meal. $94. That's one meal, paper towels, toilet paper, a pair of tongs, and a 6-pack of beer. We could eat out with drinks for less than that.
Now I think she's irritated at me for balking when the checker told us the total.
I would like to thank the shiny happy person cement truck driver who made me late for work today.
Coming up the on ramp from the White horse Pike up onto the atlantic city expressway connector, the ramp goes from 2 lanes to 1. I was following a beaten up work truck in the right lane when a cement truck barreled by me at the last second before the merge. I slammed the brakes to let him in, but instead he continued on, trying to pass the work truck on the shoulder, but ultimately sideswiping him right in front of me.
This is what you get for being an ass. Your load of cement is useless, you are probably going to lose your job for wrecking the truck for no reason, and you got a ticket for reckless driving and speeding (possibly more) all because you had to be "1st" through the merge. Congratulations.
In reply to mad_machine:
Cement trucks and school buses pass me all the time, I still have an edge over grannies tho.
Spent the entire summer with repaving/ construction necked down to one lane, not the zipper tho. Where the your speed on radar sign was shiny happy people were coming in at 65+ to a 35-40 mph zone... all to be "1st". The debris pile near the merge spoke volumes.
I hate that berkeleying merge.
Placed an order online from Sears last Friday night for store pickup, still haven't gotten a notification that it is ready for pickup.
Tried calling the store to see if it was ready and no one picked up in that department, talked to another department who put me on hold while they were waiting for the other department to get back to me. And.... Then they hung up.
Still have not talked to anyone about my order.
What are the odds that going in there on my way (ish) home from work tonight will be successful?
