For berkeley's sake people, making a word plural does NOT require a damn apostrophe!  I don't know if the sudden increase in this is due to poor phone autocorrect or general laziness.

Look, plural adds an S. Possessive adds an apostrophe AND an S. Yes, there are exceptions to both, but if you stick to those two simple rules you will get it right more than you get it wrong. Which isn't the case right now.

Can I upvote this post from every different IP address I ever have?

It doesn't matter if the word ends in a vowel.  Stick an 's' on it.  If it looks funny, make it 'es'.

The SC DMV and the Charleston County Tax Office aren't  horrible places, but that doesn't mean I ever want to go there.

Jan, 2017. The plates on my work truck expired in Dec. We never received a tax or plate bill to pay, so I make the trip to the tax office. They have no record of the vehicle in their system. Anywhere. Show them the registration, blank look. Show them the title, blank look. Show them the truck, yep blank look. Apparently if you buy two of the same vehicle, there is a good chance some jackwad will delete one of them, just because. Spend a couple of hours getting that straight, give them money, get plate renewal sticker. Yay team!!!.

Nov, 2017. The bill shows up for the 2018 year. Promptly pay it to avoid another trip to the tax office and DMV. Yay Team!!

Jan, 2018. The tags on my work truck expired in Dec... Apparently last years payment was mistakenly credited to 2016 instead of 2017. 2018's payment was then credited to 2017. Spend a couple of hours with multiple people and supervisors, copies of checks, receipts, etc., fixing another of their berkeley ups. No yay team this year. You people suck. I'm liable to be a little pissed if I have to go through this again next year.

It's no wonder people have to go through a metal detector to get in the offices. They'd run out of idiots to hire if they didn't.

OMBG I don’t mind fixing all your disaster area proposal documents for you but please at least do me the favor of starting from the last one I did so I don’t have to fix the same stupid problems over and over and over and over and…

Better yet, just learn to use the tools we all use every berking day and have been for the last 20 years.

I'm a bit of a closet grammar Nazi as well, but I catch autocorrect mixing up plural and possessive cases all the damn time. My rant is that I know I'm poor at proofreading my own posts and I'm sure there are plenty more instances I don't catch.

I need a win. Or at least a few days in a row where when I fix things at the office they stay fixed for a while until other people break them again.

Also totally need a vacation I have like a European amount this year. Almost 31 days total. My wife gets 9-10 a year including sick days. This is not going to go over well.

Also pretty sure I am going to lose my Scottish Fold cat to Cancer. I just lost one of my other cats and honestly this is getting harder each time.

If it's similar to Honda's stuff.

We actually got snow today. Make a bombing run to get into my driveway, there's an awesome plume of snow as I drive through close to a foot of snow. Go to check my dashcam for amusing video, nothing on the SD cards since mid december. The bitter cold must've berkeleyed up the power supply, and the camera.

I think that this round of car shopping is going to drive me to drink.

Background: we need another vehicle, as at the moment I'm driving the Rampage which is a) horribly suited to winter driving, at least with the current tires and b) has a mounting list of small problems that make it a pain in the ass to drive under any conditions. Initially I was just searching for a beater, ideally with 4wd so we could use it to more easily get up to our property where we're trying to get a cabin built. This was going well enough... until at some point it was decided that maybe we should get something that we would plan on keeping for a while and that SWMBO would be able to drive as a backup to her SUV, and it went from being 'I'm looking for a vehicle' to 'WE'RE looking for a vehicle'.

Which means that most of the things that I would have gotten have been vetoed by SWMBO, usually because a) she just doesn't like the way it looks or b) it has too many (over 200k) miles on it- or for both reasons. "It's just too big," has been another reason vehicles I'd have been perfectly fine with have been knocked off the list- in some cases understandably (as she's really short so it can be difficult to adjust the seats on some for her to be comfortable) but others she just thinks will be too large to maneuver.

Perfect case in point- this was initially my front-runner for what to get: 2005 Acura MDX The pictures don't quite do justice to the body- it's definitely more beat-up than it looks (though the damage to the back bumper is just a scuff and not structural as it almost looks in one of the pics). But the engine runs smooth as butter, other than the front seats being a bit torn up the interior is in good shape, it looked to be almost entirely rust free, and while the front and back wheels are mis-matched there are several in junkyard around that I can pull matching wheels from. And it's priced at half of what blue book for it would be. SWMBO took one look at it and the miles (222k) and said absolutely not- she wouldn't get anywhere near it.

Similar story with this: 2004 Explorer Sport Trac. Despite being priced pretty well and the issues (may need a fuel sender, figure out why the speedo cuts out) not being anything that remotely worried me, she vetoed it almost entirely because of the mileage.

It would be a different story if we weren't operating under the budget constraints we have... we're trying to get something we can pay for entirely with cash so we don't have another loan on the books when getting the construction loan for the cabin. So >95% of everything in our price rance that is either a truck or SUV and has 4/AWD is going to be over 200k miles... and much of the remaining 5% are priced lower because they have problems and we really want something that i don't have to spend weeks working on (potentially in vain, as was the case with the Grand Cherokee I had). If we had twice or 3x our budget there's a lot more things that we agree on.

True- but honestly with what we're figuring on using it for a truck or SUV is really more what we need so her prejudice against station wagons & minivans isn't hurting us that much.

My state is in the news again for a crappy reason.  Another school shooting in the western end of the state.

A 15 year old boy killed 2 and injured 17.  Tragic and painful for everyone involved.

Talk to your kids, make them know that there is another way to resolve things.

Jeebers people. We are outrunning our logistics. You are creating over a combined hour of work between 5 different people to make a sale of a single item? We're losing money on the deal. We don't need this sale this badly. Actually, we don't need this sale at all.

That's unbelievable.

We've been vacationing a few miles from that school for over a decade, have driven past it hundreds of times and know more than a few people in the immediate area. Normal, down to earth, God fearing, church going, small town America people in that area.

Very sad, definitely an eye opening situation for me, and I'm sure the residents of the area. If it can happen there, it can happen anywhere.  I've lost some more of my quickly disappearing innocence here, as I'm sure those living through it have as well.

Thoughts and prayers to all involved.

Why do I frequently have to chase people to provide the services that I want to pay for, and that they advertise?  I want to buy gearsets and differential parts from you!  No response.  I want a quote to machine this part, and have provided a 3D model and drawings!  No response.  Sure, we can rebuild those, send them out!  Did they get them?  Who the berkeley knows because there's no response now that they're (presumably) holding my stuff hostage.  It's not that hard to just give a "hey sorry we're swamped right now" to let me know my parts/money/time/trust in your company haven't disappeared into the berkeleying void.
