I'll need smaller grates on my grill for the cookout of the future.
UN Says: Why Not Eat More Insects? --ABCNews
Excerpt:
"The U.N. has new weapons to fight hunger, boost nutrition and reduce pollution, and they might be crawling or flying near you right now: edible insects.
The Food and Agriculture Organization on Monday hailed the likes of grasshoppers, ants and other members of the insect world as an underutilized food for people, livestock and pets.
A 200-page report, released at a news conference at the U.N. agency's Rome headquarters, says 2 billion people worldwide already supplement their diets with insects, which are high in protein and minerals, and have environmental benefits."

I ate a ciceda once for $30. Kinda crunchy. I'd do it again for even less, but this time I'd make sure I had some chocolate or maybe a cheese sauce to dip it in. I bet it would be even better fried, or possibly wrapped in bacon.
The only bugs I've eaten (other than chocolate covered ants) were awfully bitter.
I must add that other than the ants I've not eaten any other bugs on purpose, but when you ride a motorcycle the snacks come free.

Especially if you are happy.
I went to an "eat bugs!" exhibition a few years ago in Niagara Falls at the botanical garden.
Nothing really grossed me out as they were spiced and cooked and everything. I could eat bugs.
Why not raise bugs as a protein supplement and add it to foods in an innocuous, non gross way? They're certainly plentiful and PETA probably wouldn't mind so much.
Have any of you ever eaten lobster or crab? Maybe had some shrimp or prawns?
They're basically just large bugs...

As PETA exists as an organization purely to be able to complain about things, I doubt anything would change.
I prefer to ingest my bugs indirectly. I feed them to my chickens. They absolutely love crickets and beetles, and they once had a very exciting tug-o-war over a big, juicy tomato hornworm. I don't recall who won, but I know for sure the hornworm lost.
I eat the eggs. Honestly, you wouldn't even know there was bugs in 'em!
