"I'm looking for a 6-seat convertible that gets 30+ mpg and can tow my 5,000 lb. trailer."
We're car guys and gals. We know what exists, and we have pretty good ideas of the reliability of older models. Yet it seems like a ton of "what car" threads still ask for total unicorns.
Why?

Oh, and before anyone suggests it, the correct answer is "1973 Buick Centurion convertible with a 4BT engine swap".
I want a reliable, fun, $2000 RWD car that gets good fuel mileage and can seat 4. Why U no exist?
I realize the OP was 78.3% kidding, but I don't think people are looking for unicorns. There are plenty of serious suggestions to each what car question. People don't like some of those suggestions for whatever real or perceived issue, but the cars exist to answer most Q's.

E30, E36, Panther (you didn't say no auto)

P71 ticks all those boxes. LOL
But srsly...
Most of my 'what car' threads or 'learn me' threads are gaining personal experiences with each car. That's REALLY what we're looking for.
We are also looking for someone, anyone, to enable us or support the decision we've already almost 100% committed to anyway.
For a few years, GM had their super-secret Apollo Division. All they made were V8, RWD cars with 6-speed manual transmissions. Despite their 400 hp, these things got 45 mpg. They sat 4-6 people, were 1500 - 2000 pounds and could tow up to 10,000 pound trailer. The best part was the $100 stage 1 kit that added 100 hp and the $200 stage 2 kit that added another 200! Man, you don't see too many of those around anymore, especially the limited edition turbo AWD models. They go for upwards of $3,000!

Development work obviously took place after the 100mpg carburator.
All of which are sharing the same warehouse storage space as the Ark of the Covennant.
I want a 2600lb, RWD 4door coupe with 300hp, LSD, 6-spd manual, great seats, good stereo, AC, gets 38mpg highway, 0-60 in under 5 seconds and can hold 1.1G on all season tires and we want it all for a starting new price of $14,590 with tax included.
OK, GO!
Well, I did post one for the reason, I DON'T know which of the crossovers/small SUVs are 6+ seaters. A lot are only 5.

I get the feeling the Chinese might make this. Seriously. IT's probably diesel, and it probably runs for about an hour a month without repair... but I have to thing something like this is possible.

A 4-door+4-seater one of these with the right engine might do it:
Or most "What Car" threads are the author's need for you to approve of a choice that's already been made.

Just like most advice threads. People don't want your advice, they just want you to agree with them.
I want a 4x4 pickup that seats 6 but is the size of a ford ranger with a 45 mpg diesel. Ohh and it must tow 10,000lbs. And be good off road. And have a manual. But also have good road manners and not scare my wife.

Everyone knows that car was suppressed by a cabal consisting of the oil companies, the Freemasons, Skull and Bones, and the Koch brothers.

People constantly seek affirmation, not information
And just want to BS with virtual friends. Don't you spitball hare-brained ideas with buddies?
Here's my "what car": learn me 6 seat convertible wagon that handles like an E36 M3, gets 30+ MPG, has a low range transfer case, will fit 33x10.5's, and tows 5000 lbs- oh, and is quiet as a coupe on the highway. Cargo capacity must be 35 cu ft behind the rear seats (with convertible top that is retractable enough to use it as a truck bed), preferably with rear facing third row that folds into the floor.
Any artists in the house want to hazard a sketch of that badboy? I'm thinking bench front seat, ragtop convertible that retracts into the tailgate, air suspension (to lift for off roading/lower for backroads), semi ladder frame to accommodate the towing capacity, jeep 3.0 diesel tuned for 280hp/400tq. I'm convincing myself this is possible.
I agree that most people are seeking personal experiences with the particular segment of car they are considering.
Calling the threads "opinion on 2 seat convertibles" might be better, but the "Learn Me" tag (which I dislike) means that you can find most of those threads with a Google Search.

I vehemently disagree with both of you, and I'm so angry about it that I will say mean things about your mother. This is the internet, so that's required, right? (...um, somebody please remind me what the topic was )
