i was just cruising home in my badass Saturn, listening to an old mixtape that i made in 1993 or so.. one of the things that makes this Saturn is the tape deck...
anyways, my drive home consisted of 3 songs:
"You Can't Bring Me Down" by Suicidal Tendencies
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxcJW6bs5os
"Only" by Anthrax
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FW0HeE9ymYU
"Suffer the Masses" by Flotsam and Jetsam:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxVOnNVhxwY
and i realized why all the newer metal songs on the radio just don't click with me... this old stuff is about how screwed up the world is- it's saying you're ok, but the world is messed up and you just have to fight it to win... the newer stuff is all about how bad you are and how you are a burden to the world and how you need to change yourself to make things better - i won't put up any videos, but every song they play on the radio by 5 Finger Death Punch is a good example of this whiny mentality...
so, yeah, get off my lawn you whiny little punks.. i'll be over here listening to some old school thrash metal...
there are a few newer bands that i don't totally hate: Avenged Sevenfold has grown on me, and the song "Cirise" by Ghost is my latest earworm:

Nice! I still listen to "You Can't Bring Me Down" and "Only" once in awhile. The Sound of White Noise is my favorite Anthrax record and I have that CD in occasional car-rotation (Yes, I still mainly listen to CD's). I wasn't as much of a fan of their earlier stuff. I like Bush's vocals better.
I was hoping that it's was "AWESOME MIX volume I" that your mom gave you before she died, novaderrick, or should I say... Starlord, legendary outlaw?
Yeah, the Sound of White Noise really is a killer album. I know that Joey gets all of the love, but at the end of the day I prefer John Bush's voice. The Greater of Two Evils is also a favorite of mine.
And ST just rules.

I know because all the people I know who like bro country also listen to 5FDP when they want to rock.
A couple of weeks ago I saw Toxic Holocaust at a small club in Orlando. These guys were among the openers and just killed it: http://destructonomicon.bandcamp.com
Their "about us" page pretty much sums it up: https://www.facebook.com/pssco/info/?tab=page_info
By the way, after their set, I walked over to their merch table and bought both of their CDs. (Why, yes, I'd like two CDs.)
@ OP: I never thought about it but Ya I would agree.

i prefer Joey- Bush era Anthrax is pretty awesome, but to me Joey is the voice of Anthrax. their music is just so much more fun with him in it..
