Ohhhh look - I’m eating a tomato.
We just got through her leaky gut phase.

I used to have a friend who was (or claimed to be) somewhat allergic to Nightshades. I think they made her bloated...or crazy...I can't recall which.
Leaky gut...don't they make a sealer for that?
I picked up oneadem fancy new wave cookbooks a couple of years ago and remember reading that the author (some famous actress) claimed that Nightshades angried up the blood, or something. Of course she was all sorts of vegan and whatnot, too. Don't know how she managed to live on air and water.
Tomatoes, especially cooked ones, have been shown to actually improve one's mental state. So go have a big bowl of pasta, covered in tomato sauce, and a good helping of shredded Parmesan (cheese is also a mood-enhancer). It's no wonder the Italians are so happy...
How much processed garbage is in her diet?
I'm always amazed how readily people will blame a food which has been just fine for centuries for making them feel awful or having -insert random new food allergy here-.
A friend of ours claimed that she had a peanut allergy because she ate something with peanuts on it and felt sick afterwards. A week later I watched her shovel a plate of chicken satay into her food hole with no ill effects.
Perhaps her "not feeling well" had something to do with the Venti all-fat, double-whipped, diabeetus frappuccino that she washed the peanut dessert down with.
I've been feeling a lot better since I cut out a lot of the pre-packaged, processed food and went back to eating mostly vegetables, fish and chicken. No particular reason for it, it's just what I feel like eating.
And butter, always butter. That margarine crap can't be good for you.

Are Nightshades Bad for You?
Nightshade vegetables belong to the family of plants with the Latin name Solanaceae.
Potatoes, tomatoes, peppers and eggplants are all common nightshade vegetables. Many are rich sources of nutrients and serve as staple foods for various cultures.
However, some think that certain groups of people may be better off eliminating nightshades. They claim that harmful substances found in these vegetables may contribute to inflammatory bowel disease and other autoimmune conditions.
OK, that explains it, I always knew that Eggplant was evil and that my face was wise to reject the life threatening foul taste. The rest of the crew was framed.

Tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, eggplants, goji berries, tomatillios, ground cherries, sunberries, and probably some seriously weird stuff I've forgotten. There's a lot of definitely not food nightshades as well - tobacco, belladona, horse nettle, jimsonweed / datura, angel's trumpets, and many other dangerous poisons. It's possible to develop an allergy to some chemicals that seem to show up in all, or most, of the family, but like most allergies, it's rather person-specific and not something everybody has.
Yeah... nightshade stuff is weird and needs more research. For instance, those who are exposed to secondhand smoke have a greatly reduced chance of Parkinsons disease. So Nicotine has some benefits--now, the appropriate way to actually get said nicotine would be through diet (i.e. eating potatoes or tomatoes). And the studies on this aren't the best yet. More research really needs to be done.
In any case, I love me some tomato, I am not giving that up.

Probably surviving on cocaine and breath mints like a supermodel.
I was not familiar with the term Nightshade. To me, it sounds like the title for a Rouge Detective/Private Eye type novel/movie. Nightshade. Maybe even Knightshade
I'll admit I avoid the nightshade family with great fervor. They all make me sick. Except potatoes. They still make me sick but they are so tasty fried or baked or mashed.
Also, hadn't thought of them all being from the same plant family.
This is the first that I have heard of Nightshade food , and somehow I survived all these years eating it ,
Ignorance is Bliss !

Kind of like mushrooms, I guess. Some can be tasty, some can kill you.
Eggplant is delicious. People need to stop expecting everything to taste like burgers and fries. Life's more fun and interesting with variety!
