I feel like Ive seen everything, hive mind please help me!
TV: Jericho, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, Justified, The Shield.
Watching one now called "Our World War" that's pretty good so far.
Movies: Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, Detention, Zombeavers, You're Next, Sexy Evil Genius, Super.
The problem is that I really like movies and tv shows, so I have seen a ton of what is good and most of what is not good. I haven't seen much anime aside from death note, and full metal alchemist, which I enjoyed both. I tend to like scifi, action, drama, suspense, etc. I'm kind of a nerd as far as entertainment goes. I don't really like gore or horror and neither does SWMBO.
I only have disc service because nothing I care about won't come on DVD but streaming misses a lot. So get the following;
Network; The Verdict; The Hustler; The Outlaw Josie Wales

That eliminates about 75% of the stuff on Netflix
Oh good a fellow nerd. TV: Got HBO? silicon valley is good. As is The Wire.
I thought Nana was a great anime, but not like Deathnote. The animated series Avatar is worth seeing if you haven't. If you haven't seen any of Hayao Miyazaki's work then you need to. Start with Spirited Away but see them all.
Watch Dr Horrible's sing alongn blog if you haven't already. Galaxy quest is a gem of a movie.
We're up to season 5 or so of Magnum PI. I'm enjoying it.
For anime, I enjoyed Harlock: Space Pirate. The latest Fullmetal Alchemist movie took a little time to get rolling, but then I dug it. Last night was something from Ghost in the Shell.
In reply to David S. Wallens:
I've been on a Magnum P.I. kick lately too, think I'm only on season three.

I forgot that they started off kinda dark. Lots of dead/shot people in the first few episodes.
And yeah, we're still in season 5. This is the latest one that we watched: http://magnum-mania.com/Episodes/Season5/Blind_Justice.html
(It's the one where Magnum buys a Jag XKE.)

I used to watch the Harlock series when I was a kid. I had high hopes for the movie and was not disappointed.
For the OP: It's been mentioned here before but the Attack on Titan first season is on Netflix and was pretty good. Just waiting on the second season now.
I just watched Rocketmen last night, documentary about the early days of the space program. And they just started a show called Inbetween with episodes coming each week, about a small town where everyone over 22 dies off and the town gets walled off. Watched #2 last night, intersting so far.
Also, I believe Evil Dead 1 and 2 are still on there.
I have been on a Adam 12 kick lately.
This was a big show of my youth. Not as new episodes but as reruns. The show ran from 1968 for like 5 seasons. In the mid 70's these shows were on all the time as daytime tv. Stay home sick from school...watch Adam 12.
My wife had never seen the show but for her as a kid in a female dominated household, they probably never watched it.
Here's some thing I find interesting about the show:
The characters and story lines start very stiff in the first season and the lighten up a bit. Though no blood is shown, quite a number of people die from gunshots.
1968 is "the summer of love" so it is interesting to see the TV perspective of the era.
Heroin is very prevalent as are "pills". Grass is referenced very little compared to the other two.
Lots and lots of drunk driving.
Everyone seems to hate the cops. Anytime they encounter a suspect there is a lot of talk about brutality, heavy handed officers, abuses of power along with invasion of privacy and personal liberties.
The officers have no personal or handheld radios. Once they are out of the car or away from their partner, they are completely out of touch.
The officers are always looking for a phone to call an ambulance or call the fire dept.
No cages or dividers for passenger transport. If they have a bad guy then one officer will ride in the back with him.
I swear, there is a Ford Mustang of some vintage park on the street in just about any scene. I'm not talking planned product placement like you would see today I'm just talking about as the officers drive down the road or through a parking lot there is always a Mustang of some variation. Especially in the shows now that I am watching from 1971, by then, the Mustang had been out for 7 years and was a huge seller for all those years. It just shows to me just how popular they really were.
I also find it very odd that the random cars on the street are not that old. In rust free LA, at the time, it seems rare to see a 10 year old car on the road. It would be very easy to spot cars of the 50's and 40's but there just aren't any.
I also find it interesting how bare the city of LA is at the time. Lots of open spaces.
I did find this series of youtube videos that highlight Adam 12 filming locations now and then.

Other tid bits:
Each season is 26 episodes so for the whole series there is like 130 episodes. I bet the production schedule to film these shows was one per week. That seems like a lot of work.
Each 1/2 hour show is actually 25 minutes of show. I think today that a 1/2 hour show is not even 20 minutes of show.
Korean action or crime movies. They are unbelievably good and are not very predictable. I almost exclusively watch Korean movies when it comes to that genre.
Do you have Amazon Prime? If so they just added Banshee and Strike Back, which are both Cinemax shows, and are both kind of awesome and mediocre at the same time. I'd start with Banshee.

House of Lies
Shameless
Strike Back
Hunted
Homeland
Game of Thrones
Banshee
The Knick
Magic City
In my opinion, Banshee and Strike Back are two of the best tv shows i've ever seen.
