Did the insurance company provide several examples of cars similar to OP's to show how a scuff takes $80 of value off the car?

 

Seems only fair to make them follow their own standards.  Otherwise it should just be the cost of doing business.

They just gave me a quote based on their insurance rates.  From what I’ve seen of quotes, assuming they would have to repaint, it seemed pretty low. 

That being said, it is so low I wonder if it was just a simple buffing to fix it in which case I got ripped off!  

Unfortunately I had never really looked because it was so small and nearly completely out of sight.

Any time you have to paint a portion of a bumper it will be $400+ around here. So $80 betterment is quite fair.
