Squirrels. Can't live with 'em, can't kill 'em,
Oh wait...
People that tear the E36 M3 out of a part (usually the delicate trim piece I need) to get to something else. I always disassemble stuff and lay it to the side.
The fact that some are closing up. Three junkyards near my house - gone. Hub Auto in Lemont, Illinois used to be great entertainment.
Snakes, and evidence thereof. Flying stinging things. Weekday-only hours. "Look but don't touch" rules (usually at specialty yards)
One yard near me, the bugs, weeds, mud, and way too high prices (have to check on things at the parts store first high prices). But, they tend to have some oddball stuff.
The other one is good, but not the best neighborhood. I hate going there alone and pulling stuff from under a car, where I can't keep an eye on my tools...
Nothing. Really, not a thing. I love the junkyard.
I'm becoming increasingly grateful that there are still yards that let you in to walk around and pull your own parts. They're getting rare around here.

I hate it when they pee IN them.
I hate that i cant take every tool i own with me and that they are all at least 15 miles away.
I've decided that instead of going to the junkyard i should just continuously buy and disassemble $0-300 parts cars, keep what i want, and then sell the scrap metal for most of the money back, all in the comfort of my driveway.
So far its working fantastic!

AMEN!
i pee in cars at the junkyard, but not until after i get the parts i want. or just in the most expensive car there. does that make me weird?

The thing that makes you weird is that you leave mummified squirrels in them as your calling card when you are finished.
The staff at all the local yards.
Because we have only one auto insurance company in B.C. and the courts don't punish car thieves, insurance claims have driven the cost of junkyard parts through the roof.
Trying to buy a door panel for a Ford Explorer, they told me I had to buy the whole door for $400.00
Trying to buy a small component for a Sunbird steering column, told me I had to buy the whold column for $300.00
This is because that is the maximum that the insurance company will pay for the damaged part so they don't want to let it go for less.
I can't count how many small items like alternators, carbs, etc that I've left sitting on the parts counter because they wanted way too much for a used part.
I gave up on junkyards all together about five years ago. I get everything on eBay or at swap meets now. I don't waste a whole day and I don't get greasy. It's worth the extra $$$ to avoid giving business to those greedy bastards at the scrapyards.
Besides, all the good stuff is long gone. All the local yards crush everything older than ten years anyway. It's worth more by the ton at that point because the insurance co usually writes cars off if they're older than ten years.
So much for recycling eh?

that was an optional trunk liner... squirrel hair
only that the pick n pull yard is an hour away ... ive battled wasps to get at parts before, but those battles make the rewards much sweeter... :)
True that; a wasp or cricket nest can ruin your day. The dobbers will build a mud nest in any hole they can find, making parts cleanup even worse
Also ants.. they get everywhere!
