I had to buy some new footwear yesterday, and for the first time I actually admired what I saw.
I thought to myself, "hmmm, Self, lots of people on GRM have good taste in beer, food, cars, women... maybe they enjoy sneakers too!"
Post up your "phat kicks" ("cool sneakers")!
I will start...
I don't think the sideways hat/designer t-shirt/pink is the new black/tight jeans crowd is a large population here.
Since I don't have anything nice to say... I'll just keep it simple with EW.

I'm not that kind of person, but I do like those sneaks.
Loafers are allowed in this thread.
I like fly kicks, but I don't own any...I like a more understated design however.
I do not, however wear a sideways flat brim, or designer T's.
I just like cool shoes. When I make it big, I will buy these...Kanye West edition Louis V. Sneaks.

Those are awesome. This is the first pair of bright sneaks that I have bought. My other pair are these, but they are very dirty and cracked.
The fact that Vans is making these again:
Makes me happy.
i have tons of shoes, mostly skate shoes, a pair of Puma RaceCats. Had a pair of Paul Rodriguez 2 Nike SBs, they looked cool, but way too narrow on my foot, kinda hurt, not they are my "work on my car shoes'
I can't seem to find the POS Wally World Starter white tennies I am wearing in any photo...
Not worth the irritated electrons.
Too self-conscience, I don't own sneakers.

My only sneakers are a 5-year-old pair of sharkskin Chuck Taylor lowtop knockoffs that I got at DSW on the cheap. They have great pedal feel thanks to the thin sole, but not much traction, unfortunately.
I just wear all black classic vans. Great for driving, too.

Tactical boots for me.
I've always worked jobs where I've been on my feet for up to 16 hours a shift - to the extent that this week, when work has been really light, and I've been dicking off in the airconditioning, I've been in great pain from sitting down for more than a few hours.
I used to wear high-end hiking boots, but my last three big footwear purchases have been 8-9", zip-side tactical boots. I'm never going back to anything else on my feet. I'm still looking for my brand (my Bates have great soles, but the uppers wore out quick, vice versa with the Danners), but I love these boots.
Also, I'm kinda weird about having non-protective footwear on my feet when I venture out of my house. Never know what's going to happen out in the scary world, and there are plenty of scenarios in which I would regret wearing good-looking but flimsy sneakers.
And in a bar, I always look for the guy in sandals. He's the first one I'm taking out in the brawl.
I do have a cool pair of old school red New Balance, but they never see the light of day.

^^"That was my skull. I'm so wasted!"^^
My favorite sneaks are classic Vans lace-ups in blue.

My most common recreation footwear:
When the most athletic you get is a game of darts in some dive bar, they work pretty well.

I have way too many shoes for a dude, but I am picky and have weird shaped feet. I like New Balance for sneakers, Born and Ecco for nice leather shoes, Simple for casual shoes, Timberland or Merrell for hikers, and Piloti for when I want my feet to hurt while I set a fast autocross time :). Generally when I stray from this list I end up regretting it, and hardly wearing them.

Hey, don't forget about pool. You gotta bend over and stuff for that. Not to mention trying to figure out how to balance/hold your cigar while you shoot, and where to set your whisky. It's a total body workout!
I've wanted these even since I saw the Subaru pit-techs wearing them.
However, I can not justify $100 for a pair of sneakers, no matter how fly.

These are my favorite shoes ever (Born Winfield). I have worn them at least a couple times a week for the last couple years, and they seem like they will go a couple more. Every surface but the sole and lining over the toes is leather. Unbelievably comfortable.
My shoes are white. Not sure who they are made by. They fit and are comfortable.
I just can't find DC gum soles that feel comfortable...
I saw Vision Street Wear shoes at the mall last week.
