Went through my bucket tonight, wasn't that pic heavy anyway, I could easily delete 200 pics of 400 and not miss 'em. I still have most recent pics on my current and old phone. If any get stranded on PB I'll get over it.
Spose I could renew build threads w/ pics I still have or start new threads. Glad I looked, as of now I have no berkeleying use for PB at all.
Now, off to find other options.

I'm wondering if the are only hitting the people that have been using the free accounts.
My stuff is still working so far.
Are we sure that every user is being hit by this? I still have pics on my build thread.

Of course I may not after everybody looks at it lol.
Still working.
I'm paid through the first of next year, I'm wondering if they will hit me up when it's time to renew.
All my build thread links are dead.

The only PB plan that allows 3rd party hosting is the $400/ year one.
Anyone else having trouble downloading albums? I keep getting some sort of "there are no downloadable photos in this album" error on larger albums even though everything thing I have up there is in jpeg format, so by their statements should be downloadable. When I pick a specific photo from the albums, they download fine. I'm not going to pull down several hundred photos one at a time, since I should have them on my hard drive (and on backup drives), but on photobucket, they were somewhat organized.

Just tried to download an album. First site told me something went wrong. Then it quit responding to my clicks. Then I tried to reload the site and the site formatting broke.

At least it's not only me. I wonder how much traffic they have attempting to download right now?

That's what I'm reading as well, but the two of us that had paid accounts are both still working. I can still upload and link images with no problem. I'm wondering if they are chasing the free accounts now and will hit the paid accounts later.
I just set up a trial Smugmug accounts. It seems to work pretty well. If PB is going to be a ass about this, I'll bail and do something different. That's going to suck though. That means the Jet Boat build, the Bus Trip, and the SanFord threads will look pretty bleak.
I"m glad I already have all the images backed up to disk. It will take some work to repopulated all the build threads, but it's doable.

Right there with you. Been paying for years, and all mine are still up.
But i will be shopping services based upon how all this plays out.
I've had my Photobucket account since ~'05, never paid them one red cent. I'm currently at 6% storage capacity with 2314 photos and 19 videos. All my links still appear to work.
This thread, prompted me to download my albums, but the site is currently too slow to accomplish anything. The few times I've actually made it to the captcha to prove I'm not a robot, it times out. Now I can't even access my library, I suspect a lot of folks must be jumping ship.
Same. Can't access nothing. Nice.
Mine still seems to be working fine AND all of a sudden the crazy pop up ads that had started a couple weeks ago that slowed down use of the site have vanished. We'll see how long before I get the ransom note. If this pic stops working, you'll know they shut down my 3rd party service.

Oof. That pic gives me a sad.
It's Roger Boliger's, he crashed it a few weeks ago and luckily no injury. Video looked like fluid leak took away traction on a rear tire and he went into a tire wall. Fire system didn't function and aluminum engine melted to ground by the time track safety put out fire. Been racing it in euro historic races for years. Rebuilding it as far as I know. Not the fastest way through a corner but a cool pic of he same car since pbucket is still 3rd party linking for me.

SmugMug gets my ire because it switched from paginated view to infinite scroll a while back. Infinite scroll is one of the worst UI ideas ever. If there are many photos and I want to see the ones near the end (or beginning, depending on your point of view) there's no way to get there without slooooooowly scrolling, waiting for thumbnails to load, scrolling, waiting, scrolling, waiting...
Regarding build threads. I just checked, and my favorite build thread of all time, Windy's New Project, has all of its images (dating back something like ten years) on Photobucket. The images still work, for now. Also, Windy started updating the thread this month after a very long hiatus, so there's kind of a silver lining to this cloud I guess.
I've always had a free account. My pics seem to be working for now, but I only have about 300 up. Thanks to this thread, I downloaded most all of the important ones to my hard drive yesterday.
Just downloaded all the pictures I wanted to keep and deleted my account. Don't know what I'm going to use from here on out because I couldn't get any of the others besides photobucket to work properly.
Who knows how PB arrived at the $400/ year 3rd party rate and what their stats show as per hosting usage. Maybe Ebay and CL users prompted PB to want a slice of that pie or pic rich build threads would be good ransom pay.
I woulda liked to be a fly on the wall at that PB business strategy meeting.
At only 12% full or around 400 pics I never felt the need to upgrade storage despite the PB badgering. I'd be willing to pay a reasonable rate for 3rd party hosting tho... but no way $400/ year, that's like commercial rates which I ain't. As someone said maybe PB will come back w/ reduced rates. $10 or so/ month would seem reasonable to me for what I actually use but screw me once and they can go suck a bag.
From other sites I'm on users are leaving in droves. I hope this dick move is the death of Photobucket.
A question for those in the know (sorry if it was covered before): How about google for photo hosting? A computer geek friend recommended it, and I'm clueless. He said it was unlimited storage. Thanks in advance.

PITA to link from and links seem to stop working from others experiences.
