I chuckled this morning when I spied a Porsche Panamera (sp) in line at Dunkin Donuts.
I chuckled when I saw one parked dead on the shoulder of I-95 a few months ago... then another one in about the same place a few weeks ago.
They're super lux inside and by all accounts are terrific to drive. Why do they have to be so homely?
Quoted from another forum, "uggh, it looks like a Cayman and a Cayenne had a child with down syndrome."
Maybe they'll depreciate really quickly
Y'all are just jealous. The Panamera is a grand tourer in the tradition of the underappreciated 928, but in a more useful 4-door format.
I like 'em. They make my Bangle-era 750Li look better by comparison
Just kidding - I actually love the look of my 750Li. I don't particularly care of the design inside or out of the Panamera but I can appreciate it for what it is, a first class 4-place touring car capable of great speed and covering long distances in comfort. I'll still keep my BMW for the same purposes. I've surprised more than one person with the times it'll run at an autocross, and it'll do triple digits without drama while the passengers stretch out and recline in comfort in back.

More useful, yes. I like four-doors.
But BMW, Mercedes, Jag, Ford, and hell, Hyundai and everybody else have managed to make a four door that didn't so closely resemble the bastard offspring of a humpback whale and a four-door Maverick.
The 928 tradition didn't have so much ugly in it.
It's a good thing they're stupid fast, because otherwise there would be very little reason not to set fire to one the second you see it.
If he was truly saving for payments, he would buy a $12 Mr. Coffee and make his own
I rode around Road America in a Panamera S a few weeks ago...was an instructor for an SCCA PDX. It was rather impressive. On the second lap between turns 2 and 5, I looked back--the rear seat is HUGE. The fact is, the whole car is HUGE. I could not believe that a car of that size performed that well...but again, it is a Porsche
There are a few of them in my neighborhood. They are not so attractive. And they are really big. I don't want one.
The interesting thing will be to see if they depreciate like a 7-series BMW, or hold their value like a Porsche.

That is not wrong. It is right, very right.
I see very few of them, and when I do, my thought process is something like, "What's that amorphous blob coming this way? Kinda Porsche-like, but it's way too big and fat looking. Is it a lowered Cayenne? What the hell is th- oh, it's a Panamera. Ick."
Funny thing is, I can only positively ID them at a glance from the rear. Rather distinctive hind end, for better or worse. But from the front they're...vague.
Actually, they're not so bad looking in person, I don't think. But it's weird how they look Porsche-ish but still unidentifiable at the same time, in a fuzzy sort of way.
ever time time i've seen one in person. (dropping my kids off at school) there is a super hot mom driving it with kids in the back seat.
AWESOME!

...but the 928 was a gorgeous car.
It was also one of the greatest GT cars ever.
I'm sure the Panamera is a great driving experience--it just looks like a seasick turtle.
