Is anyone here able to remove the driver from the boat and make it appear that they are flying through their air after being ejected ? I'm attending a race in May where I went surprised swimming last year and want a basic line drawing to have some stickers cut. Alas I'm useless with anything design related.
I could give it a shot. Could you get a straight-on picture of the shirt flattened out?
Best I can do, I don't have a shirt as it was a few years before I was born. The top boat would be a better sticker as the likelyhood of getting thrown from a runabout is quite a bit higher than being thrown from a hydroplane .

How's this for a rough sketch?

Looks awesome, we all need to wear full face helmets now. But that's minor.
In a perfect world the boat would be nose up at 1 o clock position with the driver exiting rear . I believe that's the preferred technique.
I'll finish it up and vectorize it when I get a chance. Gonna be pretty busy for the next few days.
Shouldn't the driver be upside down? But still facing forward.
In reply to GameboyRMH :
No need to vectorize, but if you want to keep playing don't let me stop you.

The short answer is, it depends. I went out of a hydro much like the driver illustrated above last summer . It stood straight up, twisted right in mid air and I promptly exited .
The runabout I drive only does 45mph, but stability is less than a hydro because you have no sponsons.
They bounce around a lot and sometimes they bounce a bit too hard .

I used to water ski and tried forever to barefoot but couldn't (boat was to slow-maybe, feet were to narrow, too uncoordinated). I remember wiping out at some 60 mph slalom skiing and cutting the wake with my 1970s super short Obrien double non adjustable bindings slalom ski and I can't imagine wiping out with a full face helmet. How do you spell decapitation. I once wiped out and the ski didn't come off and when I stopped, water had injected into my inner ear and I got verigo and couldn't lift my head out of the water. If the boat hadn't quickly showed up, I would have drowned. My front ankle was black and blue for months. The ski was similar to this... My fighting weight was some 145 lbs. It's now 195 but it's now a lot happier.

I take the opposite view I guess , why would you want to hit the water at 60 without gear?
Truth be told my boat only does 61, and you'd need a strange accident to hit water at that speed without slowing significantly first. But fully geared up I'm wearing a snell rated helmet , cut proof suit from ankles to wrist, and that life jacket of mine has impact resistant panels . I throw on cut proof socks for kicks as well.
I've been fooling around with these for 5 years now. Only 1 high speed unplanned exit. I was hit by another boat last year in a runabout and while 100% unhurt I was happy to have the gear. What I wear is the minimum in apba stock outboard racing.

Edit: if the boat you were skiing behind was doing 60 wouldn't you be doing significantly more at the end of the arc ? I sky a few times per summer for fun my father loves taking us out waterskiing.

No, the boat was only going some 30ish mph, I was cutting across the wake, so some 2x its speed. It felt like the proverbial concrete they describe in all of the stories about jump[mg off of the Golden Gate Bridge
Somebody say silly MS Paint?

Kinda tempted to put this on a t shirt .
In reply to 1SlowVW :
I'd be tempted to buy it. It'd be a great conversation starter.
How about the "driver" holding a "steering wheel" that came loose?
In reply to californiamilleghia :
That would be hilarious. I love how this thread is progressing haha.

Getting pretty close to where I want to be here .
In reply to 1SlowVW :
Should have time to finish it up in the next day or two.
In reply to GameboyRMH :
I wouldn't spend a ton of time on it, the stickers is probably only going to be 2"x2" so it doesn't need to be really detailed.

Man, I can't thank you enough for. It's right out of my minds eye. I'll let you know what I choose for a font and put a final here. Hoping to get it all sorted this weekend. Between working on race boats !
