They are calling for 1-2 inches here tomorrow so they have called school.

They already called school for us tomorrow as well. Two in a row for a five day weekend for us.

Yeah, snow day here too. Got a whole 1/2" but areas of ice. That's what makes winters so bad here in the south, ice. Snow isn't bad to drive in but ice is extremely difficult to drive on. It's in the low teens now and projected to be single digits in the morning with wind chills below 0 so work for me and school for grandkids are canceled again tomorrow. Means grandsons (ages 2 & 5) at the house with nothing to do but push grandpa and grandma's buttons. And to cold for me to get out and do something.....anything. 5 days off in this cold is getting nerve wracking. Sometimes I wish I lived back up north where this white stuff is better handled or where I grew up at that we pulled out down jackets when it was 50 degrees. Who am I kidding, getting spoiled and soft in my old age so don't want it colder and absolutely not going back to Cali. I'll just stay here in north Alabama. This SoCal boy learned to drive in the white stuff in Korea, Tacoma, WA and Fairbanks, Alaska.

SWMBO's work is delayed 2-hours, most area schools on delay or closed, and 2 of the 3 bridges into town are closed. I haven't ventured outside yet, but there's no visible ice/sleet/snow in our yard.

The local news posted an article "Bad weather is not a valid excuse to miss work, you may get fired!" It's funny & sad realizing that's not something everyone knows.

Cue “oh you silly southerners who aren’t equipped to deal with a little snow so you all stay home or crash” comments below cheeky

Airplanes rock. It’s going to be 84 today.

Then they suck, too.

Although there will be a “heat wave” when we get home, highs in the high 30’s.

I drove around in the snow and ice for two weeks over Christmas and didn't bat an eye. I haven't left the house in 36 hours. One of the things that shocked me when I moved down here was the confidence and speed with which people approached intersections and slammed on the brakes. They drive like grip will always be there regardless of weather. I've ridden on enough school busses on field trips over the last decade to know that the bus drivers should NOT be out in this weather.

We had a blizzard in Biloxi overnight.

Should I build a snowman or a sandcastle?

My daughter is a teacher at a rural district in the greater Nashville, Tn area.

They cancel school if there is a prediction of snow or ice.

I think it takes more than a foot of snow here in Illinois for schools to cancel! (Maybe not, but seems that way!)

1.5 inch accumulation in the last hour.

But it rained all night, so theres probably going to be enough ice that snow donuts can't happen.

They called school for tomorrow already.

And i still have to work. Damn mobile employee. The cube dwellers got the day off.

I've spent the last few days home from work with pneumonia, while also trying to help wire up lights/run conduit for the lift in my pop's building. At this point I'm ready to get back to work & feel better just to get out of the house.

I grew up in a dark blue area.   Always interesting to hear peoples reactions to snow.

This is a map for amount of snow it takes to cancel schools

If I'm looking at this map right, my county in Kentucky is in the "any snow" part of the map. Considering we're 4 days into school cancellations over snow we got Monday that is mostly clear by now. It's accurate.

Kids are back at school! I was glad that Hans left an old ice scraper in the Airstream. I've used is several times already. It was 18 this morning. Pretty sure all the citrus is going to die. sad

Supposed to gut up to 45 today and 55 tomorrow. Grosh is 42 inside right now. I need to go put on all my warm clothes and be productive or I'm going to go nuts.

Mines 41 with all the lighs and heater running. Motivation is by sheer force of will. Work on duster a little, come back to my desk next to the heater and do paperwork while warming up.....

Oh how I pine for 42, degrees and age.   I have an assortment of ice scrapers, starting at my back door, sort of like bread crumbs leading to the vehicles.

Everything here in central Georgia was shut down yesterday. Most everyone's back at it today but there's still snow in the shadows and it was 17* when I left for work. Rare around here but not unprecedented. I, of course, was one of the idiots joyriding yesterday.

This is BEYOND stupid.  We got literally 1/2" of snow overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning.  Wednesday afternoon, the sun came out and while it was below freezing, the sun hitting the asphalt not only melted snow on the roads, it dried it.  The only remaining patches were small areas where everything is in full shade.  They canceled school Wed, Thursday and today.  For 1/2" of snow...that fell more than 48 hours ago...yet in mid-December, they opened school on a morning while it was actively snowing (pretty hard) and we wound up with an all time historic record of 9" of snow by time all was said and done...
