Both my Saturday and Sunday autocrosses were cancelled because of the SNOWPACALYPSE. I'm really bummed about that, because it might have been the last corner carving I could do this year.

Just checking in quickly. I live just south of Allenown, PA. We got about 8" of snow on Saturday. There are trees down everywhere, power lines laying all around. My house has been without power since 2pm Saturday. They can't tell us when it'll be back, just that they expect everyone to have power by Friday night. Without power, our house has no water, sewer, heat, etc...definitely need to get an electrician to come in and wire us up so I can get a huge generator to plug in. But that doesn't help at this moment. With three young children, it's been an adventure to say the least. We've been in hotels the past few nights, but it's getting expensive. Keeping our fingers crossed...

Took the top off the miata yesterday and cruised around town with the 9 year old... she loved it!

We got 8 inches of rain last night. That's 23" in a week. Where did I put that ark? IIRC, 1 inch of rain yields 10" of snow. Glad it's warm here.

Just across the river from Harrisburg, we got about 4". We lost power at about 11:30 Saturday, it came back on at 11 yesterday. It was quite chilly overnight. So a little brief 19th century interlude to clear the air.

It was a weird coincidence that I put the snow tires on the car last weekend while saying, "I won't need these for another 2 months, but whatever, I'll just get it done now."

Lost power around 9pm Saturday; we're not expected to get it back until 11pm on 11/1 according to the Cen Hud web site. We lost a bunch of limbs and branches, plus a really big tree in the back that is resting on my shed.

I have a neighbor with a whole-house backup. He had his landscape lights on last night.

We had about 4" of snow at the g/f's house in NJ and I had maybe an inch just north of Philly. Was totally not prepared. Didn't have scrapers in the cars and still had the summer tires on. I ended up driving the truck home Sat night and brought the snows from home to swap on Sunday after shoveling. I don't think I've ever mounted the snows on the cars before Thanksgiving since i started using them (except the truck, which only has snow tires)...

saw there was about 280k people without power in ct.
Now they're saying 820,000. It's worse than when hurricane Irene came through...two whole months ago. I'm guessing there might be a rate increase over this in our future. Big Mess (From the Hartford Courant)

Latest count, 884,000 peak. Down to 750,000, now. Of course, I'm one of those 750K. As I said, I do have a generator, but with EVERYTHING powerless, no gasoline is available. Generator ain't worth much without fuel. I had to drive to another town to find fuel last night. I was lucky. Oh, and the official total snow accumulation for our area was 17".

That was a lot of fun.... of course I was in grade school at the time. Went trick or treating in it too... came home with like 15lbs of candy because everyone gave me extra for going trick or treating in that.

Also, in an attempt to put the mx6 on the road again, it got winter tires, because that was the first full set I found with the right bolt pattern. Winter beater with collector plates GO!

A coworker in NJ has a house in CT where his parents are living. Yesterday he did a banzai run from Central NJ to South Jersey to pick up a borrowed generator, then drove to his house in the mtns of CT then back to NJ. Leaving the office here at 9am and getting to his hosue at 3 pm. He said he found the speed limiter on his Tacoma fluctuates around 120mph - mainly because he was bouncing off the rev-limiter...

One thing i can't figure out is if the storm was saturday, why i would lose power on wednesday. The only thing worse than coming home to a dark house is falling asleep to the hum of a neighbor's generator

We never lost power in my neighborhood (though we were out for five days after Irene), but we have trees and branches hanging on primary lines everywhere. At some point, they are going to have to kill our power to safely clear the damage. That's probably what's happening in your neighborhood now.

I expect to lose my power at any given mo

Ha, I just got power back last night. The whole situation sucked, but at least I had my parents' HF generator.
