I got a ride from Gary Patterson himself in the Shelby 1000 last week. Depending on which version you buy, it is either 950hp on pump gas, or 1,100hp in race trim:

I'll take mine without badges please and with a little more muffler.

Yes. I think my socks are still in the back seat. Even more shocking was how violently is turns. Gary shook me like a rag doll in the passenger seat showing me how well it corners.

Yup. You pretty much give your GT500 back to them (with a load of cash) and they turn it up to 11.

From what I've been reading, the reason why the 13 GT500 and the further Shelby versions suddenly got so good is that they basically switched over to the actual Ford GT 5.4. It's supposed to not share anything with the previous GT500 5.4's. Completely different heads, all forged internals (including crank), and the big crazy is the new blower. Apparently Ford took the GT engine off the shelf, slapped anew blower on it, and stuffed it in the car. It's hawt.
I've driven my brothers '12 Shelby 500 with the Steeda package and it is awesome. I can't imagine something even more powerful on the street.
The tires came with a warning not to drive them in temperatures under 40 degrees F....

So ... what would one of the new engines do in a GT?

Super high hp cars are a pretty cool experience, riding in a buddies 1200+whp supra redefined my understanding of fast!
