Oh God, another Teds Fish Fry fan.  My wife thinks it’s the greatest place up there.  Since he’s going to be in Schenectady already I was going to suggest Morrettes for a steak sandwich https://m.facebook.com/morrettes/

The state museum is nice but I don’t know where you’d park a trailer there.  I’d also look to avoid the thruway and take 81 or 86.  The Saratoga auto museum is a bit beyond where your going but is a nice stop for a little while in a beautiful area.

Agreed, never understood the appeal of Ted's.

You okay?

There's more to this story...

I'm good. Very annoyed and a bit sore. But I may have totaled a Crosstour in a single car accident on the way to work last night. Dropped a tire and slid down an embankment through a very well built fence.

Fish/Seafood are my favorite animal based proteins.  Mild Wally's is another good place to go (I helped develop the recipes and menu waaay back when)

Daylan- Glad you're alright, sorry to hear about the Crosstour.

Thanks. I have a new appreciation for how solid modern cars are built now.

I’m glad you’re ok, on the bright side putting the trip off a bit may get you into warmer weather.

In reply to Brett_Murphy :

The wife and her mother are there again tonight.  I’m not a big fish fan to begin with but it must have some kind of appeal. Last year when my father in law passed my parents, brother and sister, and their kids came up and we took them to Teds and it was all the kids talked about the rest of the week.

I think I've been to the one in Troy like once and I just remeber being unimpressed after a buddy had talked it up. That may have been his fault more so than Ted's, TBH cheeky. Generally I do like seafood quite a bit.

Yea, it's pretty amazing the hits a modern car can take and still have the driver walk away. Glad you're ok.

Thanks for the concern everyone. Putting the trip off was really looking like the better option this just wasn't the excuse I wanted.

Where the Honda finally came to a stop.

I've seen pictures of some of the closeups of the damage but don't have them on this phone. Most of the damage is on the passenger side from where I went through the fence. Several fence posts were wedged under it so I'm sure there's some nice carnage up underneath. And on top of all of that they towed this AWD Crosstour with the rear tires on the ground so I suspect that might have caused some nice damage on its own.

My first thought when seeing the pictures was, "that looks like a nice, peaceful location, ha."  I figured that the damage was not enough to total the car (thereby making it the car's final resting place) but then I figured there is still more damage to be done during the process of extracting the car.  Sure enough, I then read that it was "ground towed".

The picture doesn't show the path of entry but seeing the car in its resting place I was surprised you did not roll it.

Luckily I went off at the least steep place I could have. A few feet later I definitely would have rolled.

And the estimate to fix the car is $13,000+. Looks like mom is car shopping. My guess being right with $6,000 of that being drivetrain damage. Mom's eyeing 2011+ Durangos this time it looks like.

I ran mom's crosstour off the road through a fence and parked it in a creek. Nobody was hurt, but the car is done for.

And this saga ends with mom getting a 2011 Durango. Me paying out for the insurance deductible on not the Honda, but the rental car she had for a week where some idiot with a 5th gen Camaro let his door swing open on a windy day and smack the quarter panel leaving a fairly large dent. And of course paying the normal tab on the rental car too.
