I remember when that Trans Am book was like $49.99 at Barnes & Snowball and me being unable to justify purchasing it. I've been kicking myself ever since.
It was $39.95 when I bought my copy in 2004. I was a broke ass high schooler, and I probably had no business spending 40 dollars on a book, but I'm glad I did.
That book introduced me to small bore European cars at a time when I thought anything smaller than 5 liters was for Bob Costas. It sounds cliched, but that book helped make me who I am today.

Are some of the other car books so rare that you can charge hundreds of dollars? I get the signed and inscribed ones, but the other ones, really? Is there information in there that can't be found on the internet that makes them more valuable?
I do like the website. It's clean, I like that.
Rarity is a big factor. A book that has been out of print for several years, or had a short run can affect the price.
Yup. Price keith's locost book
http://www.amazon.com/Build-Cheap-Sports-Motorbooks-Workshop/dp/0760322872/ref=pd_sim_sbs_b_5
21 Used from $85.75
9 New from $183.34

The internet is a shallow pool compared to books.
That's not just WRT cars. In many obscure, ultra-specific areas of knowledge there's information in paper format that just doesn't exist online. That's why my grad school thesis had sources from the 1800s in it.

And to think I used to have a copy of that. I believe I sold mine for 40 bucks...
I used to have "The Lotus Book, Series 3" too... Sold that one a few years back for $70... Damn.
<== Still has his copy of Keith's book

Wait...
You were in high school in 2004?
Good lord I'm getting old.

I thought this was pretty cool, too...
Nice. I used to collect books. I guess I still do as I still
have them but I don't acquire anything other than reading
copies anymore. Are you also registering your collection
with Alibris.com? Or even Amazon? The net has really advanced the used book world. Looks great, but it is hard to say goodbye if you've been a collector.

I traded Keiths Locost book for one of Keiths Miata's books. The Miata is worth more to me, since I actual used it to work on my Miata. I only collected parts for a Locost!

Alibris is the plan in the near future, but I'll probably stay off of Amazon. Even though there is tons of traffic there, It's just too much of a hassle to deal with. (Call me a hipster, but I also have some kind of aversion to mainstream...)
Thanks!
I'm sure it's a long shot, but got any lightly used copies of Nyam Jamaica by Rosemary Parkinson?

I don't have much in the way of cookbooks right now, but if I see one when I'm digging through the stacks, I'll shoot you a message.

Liked. Anybody that quotes Neil Himself is all right in my book (no pun intended). Good luck! Can't wait for a chance to browse.
Probably one of my favorite authors. I read American Gods last summer (finally) and it changed my life.
Tell me about it! I read it around the same time and was blown away (no pun intended) by the Genie / taxi driver scene. That was unexpected. Good book.

I think Belobog/Czernobog and the sisters were my favorite characters, but the opening few pages with Bilquis and the business man really set the tone for the absurdity of the whole book. Excellent work.
Sweet, thanks! I see it as less of a cookbook and more as a volume full of food porn.
Amazing.
I've always wanted to do this (been reading pretty much nonstop since I was a toddler, used to get introuble in class for reading during the lectures lol)
Liked on FB, will be giving you guys some custom hopefully soon

Thanks for the like. We added about 20 books today, and there are still a couple hundred more to go, so keep checking it out!
So it's had a few days to percolate. Any feedback on the site?
Design? Any categories you think we should consider adding? (other than cookbooks, that's coming soon)?
I'll shut up soon, I promise.
