But that doesn't make it right, or attractive.

That's fine as long as you don't go outdoors like that

And nobody ever sees you.

It used to be, at least up here in the northeast, that socks with sandals was an "old guy" thing. But this season I've seen more kids (teens and 20s) wearing socks with sandals so I guess its become a thing....who knows.

The whole reason I wear sandals is I like to let my feet breathe, socks defeat the purpose.

And add me to the BTDT club on welding in sandals...yes its a bad idea.

My 80 year old father is retired in Florida. Not only does he wear socks with sandals, but he wears BROWN socks with sandals.

I live in Fl. and to me, socks and sandals are like those stupid sleeveless t-shirts....with hoods on them, somewhat pointless. Shoes were invented for folks who can't go sockless while the temps are falling.

Having said that, I can ALMOST abide plain, white, low-rise socks with sandals, but black or brown? UGH.

The other fashion trend, that seems to be quite temporary, (thankfully) is guys wearing "clamdiggers". That's the name they had in the '50s for shorts that go BELOW the knees. For some reason, I don't mind seeing women wearing them, but guys over the age of 5 or 6? Do you wear "knickers" when you are off the beach?

BTW, I spent 6 months on Bermuda. The men there wear shorts and jackets...to work if they work in an office. And they wear shoes and knee high socks with their shorts and jackets/blazers..

I've worn socks with sandals occasionally -- mainly at the track where I don't want to wear my driving shoes around the paddock (great way to wear them out prematurely) and I just want to throw on something else. So... are nomex socks with sandals OK? :)

I'm currently wearing steel toe desert combat boots with shorts because my sneakers are dead. So I don't think I'm allowed to comment on socks and sandals.

That reminds me, those "elf shoe" style driving shoes look so ridiculous that I'm not even sure they're acceptable at the track, unless you're wearing the suit to go with them.

Wait is that bad? When I go offroading I wear boots with nylon zip-off pants, so I can turn them into shorts to get rid of most of the wetness and mud when the driving's over.

I wear sandals almost all the time. I do not give a dead rats ass what anybody thinks about my footwear, or my any other wear. But then I'm a cranky old fart.

From what I've been told, yes.

i'm not a cranky old fart yet... but yup... I also rock shorts most of the time... at least till it gets to cold out... then again I have ran around outside barefoot in the snow as a kid... the cold doesn't bother me to much... it's that freaking heat... I also sit or lay on the floor to read and watch TV at home...

and I have a beard and long hair... and a facial piercing... I don't much care what people think of the way I look...

'I don't wear sandals all the time but the rest of cwh quote pretty much applies to me. I am no slave to fashion. If it feels good do it.

I wear low cut black socks with my Keen shoes. You really can't even tell that they're not part of the shoe unless you look closely, since the Keens have an enclosed toe.

I wear them because otherwise my feet make a nice gravy of dead skin cells and sweat in the bottom of the Keens, and my feet start to slide around in the paste. It's really uncomfortable. Good moisture-wicking socks and the open sides of the Keens mean that my feet don't become a level four biohazard within 15 minutes of going outside.
