Shoot them, then you have the disposal problem. I use rodent repellant, available at any hardware store. I have heard drier sheets work. Reminds me, I need to get a supply of repellant for this winter.
My neighbor has assured me that he will gladly eat any squirrels that I happen to shoot.

You could live in New York. I've never needed a permit to by a BB gun. You only need one in New York City, the rest of the state is ok.
