I would agree. Saw it last night, pretty decent turnout. A good balance of new stuff, call-backs to prior movies (even a small bit to ep 7). It never lulled to me, a friend joked he kept thinking there would be a "pee break" point but every time he started to get up something else cool happened. I knew about the Rey reveal going in from SWMBO (I don't care about spoilers really) but there were a few points I was genuinelly surprised.
I'd say at least 8-8.5 out of 10, and if you want to get super critical and nit pick it to death, turn that attention to ANY of them. If you're honest you can find faults with ALL of them. (And I didn't see any moments that made me think "ugh that was silly and will get hammered by the fanbois". ie throwing away his saber or drinking milk from a creature. YMMV.)
I watched 1, 2, 3, Solo, Rogue One, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 all before 9. I am not at all sure what I watched in 9. It left me wanting more. I did not have the emotional reaction to it like 7 and 8. Something was missing, a depth within the story. Too many things going on detracting from the arc. Glad I watched it, but atl east I still have 3, 4, 5.
I watched this yesterday afternoon. I can be critical, I can nitpick, it felt rushed, some stuff felt forced, some things were too abrupt. I still left the theater excited and highly pleased with the movie. I'm a Star Wars fan from birth, there were parts of this movie that choked me up because these are characters I've grown up with in books, movies and TV shows.
Trying to figure out when I can get out to see this with my wife another time or two while it's still in theaters. Some stuff won't feel 100% right about it, but I'll still enjoy it.
Went Saturday morning for the matinee. Watched it. Loved it. Loved all 9 of them. Don't care. Will buy it on DVD when itcomes out and put it in the collection.
Saw it last night. Did not fall asleep, but it was close a few times. Less bad than episode 8. Full of things to complain about, but they are not as bad as the previous movie
I had managed to not watch trailers or read any reviews, so went into it without knowing anything that was going to happen. Big plot twist was both surprising and at the same time cringe inducing since it is yet another thing taken from the original trilogy.
I’ll give it a 6.5/10.

We also saw it for a second time yesterday, and thought it was better the second time.
I think part of the problem was there was so much discussion and expectation leading up to this movie that I went in wanting to like it but dreading it as well because of the last movie. After letting go of that, it was much easier to watch.
It's still not perfect, but it's better than a lot of the reviews its getting.
It wasn't bad but they made too many convoluted love triangles that never went anywhere. I mean, WTF Disney? Rose loves Finn, Finn loves Rey, Rey loves Napoleon dynamite, and Joanie loves chachi.
Going this evening @530 because all earlier showings that didn't conflict with work were sold out. STOKED!
Some cheese. Some fan service. Definitely busy.
very well done I thought. I confess I did go in with low expectations. Excited for sure, but ready to be disappointed. I wasn't. If I find the time I'll go again.
Without spoilers, I'll say there was a choice made by a main character at the end that I was VERY pleased with.
Yeap. “Too busy” is my main gripe with the whole new trilogy. I still enjoyed it and it was fun taking the kiddo to see the new Star Wars at the theater.
"Too busy" is part of why the Peter Jackson hobbit movies were so terrible, too, along with some of JJA's rebooted Star Trek.
It was a fun romp. Biggest issue is JJ effing Abrams 15 second attention span. Can we have him euthanized on humanitarian grounds please?

Why? He makes great and fun movies.

Which would be far better if he could make any cut last longer than 15-30 seconds. And before people point out I'm an old fart, my 18 year old and all her friends had the same criticism.
Watched it with my 11 year old son Sunday night and I enjoyed the movie but the best part of the night by far was seeing my son get totally sucked into the movie. He talked about it the 20 min ride home, really reminded me of myself seeing New Hope in the theater with my father.
My 18 yr old and I and my wife are all in agreement. It felt kindalike we were watching someone else play a videogame.
Too much fan service, not enough plot and character development. I haven't enjoyed a single movie among episodes 7-9 and I agree with Adrian that JJ Abrams needs to be put down. I looked up his movies the other day and realized I don't like a single movie he has ever written or directed. Overall I'm pretty bummed about this last trilogy. But hey, the movies have lots of CGI effects and lightsaber battles, so everyone thinks they're "fun." At least The Mandalorian is decent.
Just saw it tonight. I loved it. My favorite of all the movies. Seeing it again because my wife still needs to see it, but I really thought this was a lot of fun.
My only issue would be what Adrian mentioned. Could have used some longer shots and less cuts overall. I want the same exact running length, but stop changing cameras every 5 seconds and giving us 1/4 of a scene at a time.

lots of Easter eggs to see. Especially the cameos
Watched it a second time Sunday, found myself watching background stuff more this time for Easter eggs. :)

Oh so much this!!!
We had a very strict household ban on spoilers before we saw it, but we (my 11 year old and I) had plenty of theories on what would happen. Neither of us were correct, and there were plenty of times we looked at each other during the movie with a "whoa!" look on our faces.
It was a great time.
