I am inheriting my swmbo's 07 rabbit 5 speed in the near future and I want to see if I can get some suspension, wheels and other bits from part outs. I am a regular on vortex but just wondering if there are other vw forums good for the new rabbit or vw in general. I haven't kept up with other forums since I found this one.

tdiclub for some non-specific stuff... but from what I've seen, the Vortex is still the go-to place for watercooled VW stuff.

I agree, I have had the most success on Vortex when I was gathering parts for a Cabriolet project that never was. I have pretty decent luck on Craigslist too, I search areas outside of my immediate NYC zone if I'm traveling (ie when I go up to Providence). Also, still great luck at the local wrecking yards.

The only place I found that was a little overpriced for any used parts was eBay.

Luckily where I am at we have another great forum/club- SoCalEuro.

But if you are not in Southern California this probably won't help you much unless they are willing to ship.

The Samba is definitely the go-to for air cooled, but they have water cooled forums too.

As a lark, try special stage- maybe there are some rally guys getting rid of GTI stuff there.

This.

There are a lot of tards on vortex but there are a lot of parts to be had. Sometimes the vw kiddies want a bit too much for their stuff though.
