Lexus SC430
It's too bad they didn't have access to more American cars. I would love to hear their thoughts on the Chevy Celebrity Eurosport VR.
Especially if they had one with 79,998 miles on it to test! (The transmissions were designed to fail at 80,000 miles. The exhaust at 81,000 and the block at 82,000)
Is it weird that it just made me want an SC430 more? I've always kindof liked those cars.
SC430? Ewww. Saw a black one yesterday, as always it is the most unfinished and misproportioned looking thing I have ever seen next to one of those Murano convertibles. Would make a great engine/drivetrain donor though.

They bitched about some pretty awesome cars in that episode, but a lot of it was tonque in cheek as usual. I mean they bagged on the Ferrari F50, Mercedes AMG SLS, etc.
It's getting to where I almost cannot watch this show anymore. The only people they beat on more than Americans is the French.
I liked that they singled out the Mundial for being a POS when Ferrari clearly can do better. But SC430 for worst car in the world? Meh.

+1 I haven't watched the last couple seasons....I may do it when (if) they eventually show up on netflix.....the show's not "must see" viewing anymore, though.
I agree, it was a lame choice.
Thought some were good "Emperor has no clothes" choices, like the X3.
The Lexus' main problem was its styling. Might be a good car under the skin, but the skin was terribly boring, particularly at that price point. Maybe why you can get them relatively cheaply used...
Worse car in the world no but it certainly isn't a good car.
The bit with the M5 vs 1970s yank-tanks made no sense at all, that comparison was a stretch even by TG standards. They should have given Yorkshire Stig a 1970s Roller, it would have been closer match and the Stig would still have whooped them.
I too hate the SC430, but I can think of many much worse cars. Over all I think it was an ok episode with a week ending.

Patrick Maitland from Coupling apparently traded in an M3 to buy an SC430, during the course of the show.
I still love Top Gear and will watch every episode they ever make. The rest of you can go watch fox sports 1.

Drive it down the highway and it'll rip its skin off....... Err, I mean you'll have to repaint its front bumper cover. I agree with them on the F50 though, it wasn't a good successor to the F40....thats for sure.
My ex-wife wanted one, so therefor they are correct in their choice.

Fanboi.
As far as the SC430, it is the ugliest car design from Toyota that I can think of in the last 20 years.
It's like a modern version of this
There isn't a good line to be found on either car anywhere.
Some people take TG too seriously. It's entertainment, Doris!

And, when they try too hard, it's not entertaining. Lately, they've had to try too hard. Though I admit, so far this season is far better than last season.
The SC430 always reminds me of this:
I think it's the insanely high belt line.... could be the old people driving it though... I just keep seeing it as of some sort of gigantic automated wheel chair.
The latest season of Top Gear is definitely an improvement.

I saw a matador cruising around yesterday!
