It's kiss of death time for teh hotness, next I'll be sporting Crocs and shopping Walmart. I'm driving a Buick this week and I sort of like it. There. I said it.

When the swift was dying, I borrowed mom's CARAVAN. 30 mpg, AC, hauls a sheet of plywood. Yep, liked it so much, it colored my pursuit of a new car. Honda Fit. Power locks, steering, AC, a horn that works with the thing in the middle of the wheel, and EIGHT, count 'em eight airbags. I have been coddled for almost a year now, and it still feels pretty good.

I love the Fit. What's wrong with the Fit? Uh oh, am I that far gone?

I drove the Allure (LaCrosse to you guys) four years ago and nearly died of boredom. Now that it's reborn up here as the LaCrosse... it's not a bad car. Honest. E36 M3. Pass me the remote. Bingo's on.

I've got a real thing with fast four doors, so you could say I get the best of both worlds. You wanna have a good time while staying practical, get yourself a 290whp '90-94 Mazda Protege.

There. I said it.

Oooo, thank you, phew. I'm okay... you guys like it too

When they unveiled the Regal in L.A.... I thought to myself "hmm, I would drive that!". Should I tell anyone? Other than the blind spots, this LaCrosse is a fine car.

Who'da thunk it? Buicks have always been my nemesis. If someone's going to drift into my lane, it's invariably a blue-rinse in a beige Century. If I'm trapped behind someone doing 50 in an 80? Usually a droopy-butted Riviera.

The new Cadillacs and Buicks give me hope that GM might rise from the dead after all.

Honestly, if I needed a four-door people-mover, the LaCrosse would be on my list. Is it an M5? No, but it's a good deal on an excellent car. I dug it.

I drive a dowdy hatchback with 8 airbags and a nice interior. Oh, and it's turbo. And fast. Not as fast as that Protege up yonder, but fast. And a demure german/english 1.6l coupe. It's blue. The wife likes it. And it's supercharged. Not as fast as the hatchback. It's all how you interpret the vehicles.

In reply to Lesley:

You really must be old; its not "old fart" anymore, it is "old balls" aka "old as balls".

IE. "Man, the GRM board is full of old balls." OR "Lesley is old balls."

Hope that makes you feel better!

I crossed to the Buick dark side in November. Borrowed my father-in-law's 12k mile '07 Lacrosse CX for a 5 hour same-day round-trip road trip (dinner w/ friends in CT).

A couple of the interior bits as well as the upholstery had a bit of a cheap feel to them (my 15 y/o POS Civic has nice materials in the dash and seats) and the suspension was REALLY floaty (and yet sure-footed). That said--a beautiful car to swallow up the miles. Quiet (silent), decently fast, decent mileage, nice stereo, solid feel.

It was also a Miles Davis weekend on Sirius (my Sirius unit, not w/ the car) so I was in road trip heaven.

If the 2010 is an improved version (the styling is sure better), then GM has a MASSIVE hit on their hands.

As much of a Honda fanboi as I am, Buick makes a damn nice car these days.

There is nothing old about driving a fit. If i didnt go nuts and buy a mini cooper S, completely blowing my budget it would have been high on my list.

Deep down inside i never want to buy a car with four doors though. Mission accomplished.... so far.

I hear ya on the four door thing. I'm way past 100 cars in my "old balls" state, and I can count on one hand how many have had four doors, or more than two seats actually.

However, I really like our Honda CR-V...so the "old balls" thing my be here. What channel was bingo?

When you step back from your Buick Century and think to yourself, "my, that is a fetching shade of beige" then you are too old!

We're on our third, and hopefully last, minivan. It's hard to beat when you need to carry 4 people, 3 dogs and all their stuff to the cottage every weekend.

I also have a Lotus and a Triumph in the garage so I don't feel all that deprived of fun motoring experiences.

Not in my eyes. I have title to 3 Caravans at the moment 1-94 2-95s. I even daily drive the least sportiest of them (LWB LE model, other 2 are SWB Sports) but it gets up and goes in a straight line just fine, has a very nice sounding stereo, and will eventually have remote start installed.

I rather like minivans like mine. it's no sports car, but it does it's job quite well and could do it better if I put some money into it
