Flat cap. I've never found a version available in the USA. All of the ones I've seen seem to be at least somewhat like the puffier "newsboy" cap.
Flat caps have been a family tradition for us for many years. Here's my dad wearing his trademark white flat cap at the Hambletonian, Duquoin Illinois, 1975. The other man is Hall of Fame trainer-driver Jimmy Arthur.

I've gotten a bunch of their ads myself. I still don't think they're quite the same as a British style flat cap. The brims are curved, More like a ball cap.

I don't wear hats often. Working in the sun sometimes, or helmets if I'm on two wheels or a racetrack. So I don't have a leg to stand on, and even less authority, but I'm pretty sure wae is winning this thread.

My daughter gave me the head band for Christmas and I promptly turned it into a hat band.
I pulled out some boxes. More flat caps, and some surviving fedoras.
This is the one I usually wear when it cools off here.

Bought sometime in the mid to late 70s.
A wool crusher fedora, bought for a trip to Alaska in 91.
The custom fedora I mentioned earlier. It's a quality dress hat from a time when men weren't dressed if they weren't wearing a hat. It needs to be cleaned and reblocked, but good luck finding a haberdashery.
It's the wrong time of day to get into the costumes. More to come...
