With everything going on I scaled back a bit this year and I had help from my Brother in Laws but It's all done. I needed to start early as I'm having thanksgiving this year and everyone wants to see it.

is that the world's biggest ball of twine, or the world's largest ball of twine made by one man?
Because i've seen the second one in person, and Weird Al Yankovic made a song about it..
I only bought that ball of twine because of the Weird Al song. Here is a video tour from the four trains I put up. https://www.facebook.com/wally.m.9/videos/vb.898405499/10156265928945500/?type=2&theater¬if_t=like
My Mom has a collection of trains and a fair amount of track. Half the living room used to disappear to trains during the Christmas season.
Happy memories.
In reply to Gearheadotaku:
I love this time of year. Come Jan 2 I could be done with the cold weather though.
I don't want to spoil your train phun, Wally, but did you buy your train set back from the pawn shop or what?
I should dig my trains out and put up a track this year. That should freak the cats out.
I bought back the two trains the pawn shop had. Of course the one the wife had to have decided to spit some bits out of the gearbox this year. The Chinese ones are not as durable as the old ones and the parts seem to be tough to come by,
Hopefully I will have mine up soon-ish when we get our tree up.
Backstory- My dad passed away in '97 and I found his crated up Lionel train in storage earlier this year. In the box with it was a letter he wrote in '97 in which he stated that he hoped that it would grace future Christmas trees. The train was non-operational, but in March I rewired and did a minor rebuild on the motor. In so doing I researched the train. It's a Lionel 253, which was sold from 1924-1932.
You could say that getting mine up is an imperative.
Picture from March, when I got it running again.
I think I may need to get my Lionel out this year. The crown jewel of my collection is a cold war era box car. With a decoupler, the roof folds open an a missile pops out and fires. The cats love it!
