OH! does anyone have the old 60's, 70's and even the newer SCCA decals on their vinyl that they can send me? I am in the process of using slack time to repaint some liveries onto my older cars to reflect the photo liveries that are in the old magazines
My Mazda 2 is a half second quicker than any other car I have, and it's all due to acceleration. It's the best accelerating B-Spec car. It also corners better than everything but the Kia, and it certainly weighs less than everything else, so it brakes better too.

Man, I was biding time waiting for the crashes to get out of the way to catch up with at least mid pack from the end. Made pretty good moves through traffic as they went to mow the lawn, then bit by bit, little mistakes here and there and it was a fight to not be last again. I do not that my lap times get better and better though, but so do everyone else's!
I am still trying to figure out why only Bootsy's Mazda 2 out accelerates my Yaris. I have put both my cars on the drag strip made tire pressure changes, off idle changes in runs, and each and every time the Yaris is so much faster to the end of the track on a 1/2 mile drag. It totally out accelerates the Mazda 2 all day long from 2nd gear to the end, but on any race track, Bootsy is out accelerating me straight after straight. I can keep up with racerfink and everyone else on acceleration out of a corner at least until I make a mistake. Ah well, testing and tuning both cars to see which one I can get to really go fast. The Mazda 2 seems to corner a little better and get out of the corner from 2nd to 3rd, but the Yaris is quicker from 3rd to 4th and owns top end over everything to include the Fit(the Fit lost the 1/2 mile runs to the Yaris each time as well, but was darn close in the 1/4). Maybe I'll mess around with a Nissan and the Kia during the week, but also stick to practice with the Yaris since it is my regular racer...maybe tire pressures. I'll have to pull up the replay and telemetry to see what Bootsy's tricks are ;)
If I was nailing every corner, every time, and still a second slower than the fast guys, I'd be trying to figure out their 'secret.' I do not nail every corner, and I've never strung a "great" lap together on that course; certainly not the whole section before the front straight; DEFINITELY not the last turn. Therefore, the fast guys who DO take that corner quickly every time are going to carry more speed on exit, and subsequently, a higher MPH over every inch of that straight.
I would suspect this is your problem. If we were drag racing from a standing start, well, maybe it'd be a different story.
I wish we were doing standing starts. Seems like these RR guys can't figure out a drag start to save their lives. In practice, I routinely gain 2 spots on the start.
Then lose them in T1
There was some discussion about changing cars from race to race prior to the Sebring round. Are we locked in to one car for the season, or can we change?
Only seems fair to stick with 1 car for the season, as different cars have advantages at different tracks. Jumping from car to car to play on its strengths seems a bit unsportsmanlike.

I am cross posting this here because everyone may be interested in it.
Over the weekend I recieved 16 cars full of unlocked decals. I will re-gift them free to keep in the spirit of sharing per this thread where I got them: http://forums.forzamotorsport.net/forums/thread/4989925.aspx
There are a couple different SCCA decals that I saw, I cant say for sure if any of them are really vintage though.
If anyone wants these 16 paints with unlocked decals, (they are all on the Mini Cooper S) message me on Live and I will work on sending them out as requested.

are you using the clutch with manual shifting?

Yeah, me and fried green corrado were discussing this. I was under the impression we stick with the same cars for the season. I think everyone has been doing that anyways. I was just verifying.

Yeah, that's why I stuck with the Maz2 last week. I don't think the rule is actually posted anywhere on the thread, IIRC it was an online conversation we had with The Duke on League Night earlier in the series. That was before he lost his xBox Live connection.
I'll change cars in the practice lobbies I set up, but just out of curiosity (and researching the rest of the field). IMO, not having the "right car" for every track is more like real racing.
Mutant: PM me when you have a chance. I sent you one, but I think it went to a junk email acct.

Here's the newest liveiries I have done for the Mazda 2, Nissan Versa, and Toyota Yaris. The Yaris is about as exact as I can get for the Joe Gibb's Racing prepped cars that come in direct from Toyata for race prep, the Sahlen's is my own made from the famous RX 7's and 8's, and the Tanabe I just made up today for kicks. I have all three down to a 1.31.7 on the track so tonight it's clutch timne to see if I can lower it anymore
Enjoy the colors of the newest liveries!

HOLY CHIT! Retro Hoonage, Thank You! I have yet to go on the box and see exactly what you sent, but dang, it's a lot.
racerfink, I have not forgotten, you will be bombed in short order...after I download all retro's stuff
fgc, thank you. Some of those vinyls are simple to make, and others take a while to get right, but right they get because I do not use them until they are perfect as I can get them. That 'Fueld by Hotdogs' that sucker baffled me sorely for days until I just figured out...hey, those fancy things on the ends of the letters, they are HOT DOGS! That Tennessee Fender Guitar plate(Yoo Haa all 1000 are now preordered so I get the real one in about two or three months) That guitar plate took me 8+ hours to get all the shapes right and correct as to the guitar, the pick, and the entire layout...I really think I have way more time editing liveries than actually racing
In reply to Redline:
I think the thing for me right now is the lack of different fonts for letters, etc. I try to replicate stuff by just using the spin & skew functions, and forget that to properly copy a different font, I need to play with throwing some shapes on the letters to get them to look more like the thing I'm trying to replicate. I spent a bunch more time in F2 than in F3 (got bored with it really quick, since the online was so screwed up), I'll probably go back to it after Logan starts school, and I have more time to spend on the game. The xBox is hooked up to the same TV as the Roku, he watches a lot of TV during the summer.
Protip: Easy way to do a line of text, get the first letter set up the way you want (skew, angle, etc.) then press Y to stamp, move over, stamp again, again, again. etc till you have enough letters for your line of text. Then go back and press A on each letter individually, and select "change vinyl shape" and change the letter as necessary to form your word(s). This helps keep the text the same size/shape, and keeps it in line.
Don't know what you guys are running, but after about 30 mins of practice I'm cutting 1:29.1's pretty regularly. I'm sure there is a 1:28.999 in the future!
My Kia is 29.2's... Playing with the Duece which has a base tune on it, gets down to 28.2's.
Sounds about right for you guys; I'm turning 1:30.2's regularly with a fast lap of 30.1. I imagine by the end of the race I may be able to squeak a high 29.

I am happy for you. And by that, I mean I hate you Tons of practice. Best CLEAN lap is 1:31.3. I still don't have a firm grasp on T1 & 2. Can't ever seem to get them to "flow". I think I could knock a second off there.
I spent a little bit of time practicing Sunday morning, but I can't remember what my times were. I don't think I'll have much, if any, time to practice more before Friday's sessions, so things could get interesting!
In reply to poopshovel: Just turned a 29.555 with my Fit, and I berkelying HATE this car on this track. Major props to anyone who can run more than 10 laps in a row with this car without throwing the controller through the tv.
Well, it seems it does better once the tires warm up. 28.905 on the 7th lap. But that first lap on cold tires...
those slicks take quite a while to warm up on a small, light, low powered car
Doesn't help that they decided to give it more power instead of more tire when they were trying to even the cars out.

Are you finding that braking sucks ass compared to the 2? I can't brake anywhere near as late as you do with the 2 in T1.
