University Cop being indicted in Cincinnati for murder...this could be the 3rd series of race riots Ive witnessed in this city in my lifetime.

Hopefully things will stay quiet tonight, but I have my doubts...the city is already half shutdown, and that was before the indictment was out.

Glad I moved to the burbs...

I was expecting a "hold my beer" thread.

This will be messy. From what I hear about the video, the cop berkeleyed up bad, but we don't know much yet, so I'll hold back judgement. In fact this is probably all I'll talk about it. Don't feel like arguing.

Not great film on the video but there appears to be no threat at all when the victim was shot from inches away. I am not sure how the officer can be justified and I am usually the voice saying you don't see the whole thing, well in this video it was pretty complete.

Hey, he was driving a car with no front license plate, OK? I mean, what do you expect? Really? Of course he is going to get killed for that.

Off Topic;

None of my cars in Ohio ever had a front plate. I didn't even keep it in the vehicle. I thought they were stupid and ugly. I was pulled over many, many times and not one time was my lack of a front plate ever addressed. Not by the Butler County Sheriffs, Not by the Ohio State Patrol, Not by the fine men and women of the Hamilton, Fairfield, Blue Ash, New Miami, Middletown or Cincinnati police departments. But my wife drove her new car off the dealer lot and was pulled over and given a ticket for no front plate within one mile of the dealer. I could do nothing but laugh hysterically at her.

On topic,

The racial tension in south east Ohio is palpable. It's far worse than any other area I have lived in since leaving. I hope things don't get stupid.

Yeah, but did you drive your car without a front plate across a college campus? That is serious. Think of the children. And in the officer's defense, the officer had a gun, the man driving the car had no front plate. It just makes sense that this ended in death. Next time, that guy will have a front plate on his car when he drives across a college campus in Ohio. For the children.

Saw the video. What I noticed was the officer had moved around 20-30 feet before falling off the car. In cases where officers were stuck on a door or in a window, I completely understand the need to use force. I do not feel this was the case. He responded as if he were stuck, but he was just hanging on. It does look bad. (I know, I said that I wasn't going to comment any more. Now I'm done.)

I watched it too, my first thought before reading any other info was that it was an accidental discharge due to poor trigger discipline and hanging onto a moving car with gun in hand. The officer's statement didn't support that though. Sucks for all involved, and the court of public opinion and the "news" media have already tried and convicted him.

Dude in the car wasn't shot for "not having a front license," he was uncooperative, and tried to flee, still not grounds for getting shot in the head, but the victim wasn't some saint.

Officer wasn't justified, but if you play stupid games, eventually you're going to win a stupid prize.

Usually when being dragged, instinct is to hold on, not let go in a panic situation.

If the guy was fleeing, I am surprised the officer was able to shoot. Sounds more like bad luck then murder. Do you guys have "manslaughter" charges? Or I guess "third degree" murder?

Wow. OK, that was pretty awful. What's stranger is that the cop seemed calm and cool during the stop, well, up until he got ticked off at the guy for driving away and shot him.

Like was said above, clearly the dude was not an innocent dove, but he deserved to be arrested for some stuff, not shot.

I don't normally watch youtoobes. Don't have the bandwidth. I watched this one. It's linked here: http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-08-02/us-police-kill-118-people-july-highest-monthly-total-2015

Man. OK, the guy was getting ready to run. He started the car and instantly the cop put his gun to the guys head and kills him. That's berkeleyed up.

I live in Cincinnati and this of course is the conversation by many. The uc cop has been charged with murder and has pled not guilty. I personally hope this cop gets found guilty and spends the rest of his life in jail.

Article in the local paper today showed how the UC police had been majorly stepping up their traffic enforcement in the area near campus. One thing missing was who got the revenue from those tickets. I'm guessing the university wasn't handing it over to the city...
