If memory serves (been close to 10 years since I left) on holiday weekends you get paid on Friday (tonite) not sunday.

Hooray for "bad check day" as it was affectionately known when I was in.

Officially, the payday is Sunday night but direct deposit usually goes in on Friday night. At least thats the way it worked when I was in. Still works like that for my military retirement check. My civil service payday is every 2 weeks and supposed to be on a Sunday but always goes in on Friday. Yep, I'm a double dipper.

See that's where the confusion is. Not a holiday weekend, but Monday is the first. Meaning how are we going to get paid on Sunday midnight. I think (hope) it's tonight it's been a tight month.

Don't lump me in with those flying egos!

I'm a Nav trainee (or, CSO as they say these days).

They're not dropping F-15E slots these days, and B-1B's are like unicorns, so a truck it might be (though apparently Hercs are a blast to crew on). Anything but an Awacker, though!

An unpaid Nav trainee, at the moment.

FYI, the "tapes" are run usually a few days prior. Your bank may or may not make the funds availible to you until Sunday night. If you are banking with USAA (and seriously, you should be as well as insurance) then you'll have your money Friday. Other banks are usually pretty good as well.

I say tapes becuase it used to be these giant reel to reel 9 track magnetic tapes that data was kept on.

You wish you could handle the dome! Its too much for ya. Keep up that attitude and you'll get RJs! Hello Omaha.

BTW, YOU will never be a AWACKER, now get up front with the bus drivers

I've got my insurance through USAA, and I believe I'm going to be switching my banking from BofA to them too.

Heard an old joke about that. A fighter plane and a cargo tranport plane flying side by side. The fighter jock says "watch this" and proceeded to do loops, rolls and other acrobatic feats and said to the transport jock "what do you think of that, betcha you can't do that". The transport jock replied "maybe not but watch this". The plane proceeds on straight and level and about 10 minutes go by. The fighter jock said "I didn't see anything special". The transport jock replied "I just got up, stretched my legs, walked to the back, took a leak and got a cup of coffee. Can you do that?"

Heard a similiar version;

"Shut down 2 engines, got up, stretched my legs, walked to the back, took a leak and got a cup of coffee. Can you do that?"

I'm a Herc pilot for the Coast Guard. Love it. I'm with USAA and I've already been paid (Friday 10am Hawaii time). I'd strongly recommend USAA for everything but a mortgage- they still sub those out and don't offer the best deals. I'd check out Penfed and Navy Fed for a good rate. None of those places will screw you like B of A (wife had accts 10 years ago, and it was charges for everything and nothing).

Sometimes I get all ambitious career-wise, then go out on a ten hour flight over the deep blue and it all comes back to the beautiful reality that I'm doing what I love: eating box lunches and touring the world at the helm of my chariot. Then I return to Hawaii.
