$20.9 canadian is $16 USD
Does your $100 per week expense make anymore consideration than just the cost of gas? Are you budgeting tires/oil/wear/repair?

At $0.31/mile (converted from canadian miles to old money) plus the $332/month that seems like it wouldn't consider much. Assume 30mpg and a 5k oil change interval and $3.89/gal for fuel we're looking at about $648 in fuel to go that 5k plus a $30 change, so that's $0.136 per mile right there. Add about a penny and a half for a 50,000 mile tire at about $600 for a set and we're to $0.148/mile. Assume you spend $10,000 on a car that lasts you 80,000 miles (and now the math gets real assumption-y) and the residual value is $1,500 because you used it up and now the car costs you about a dime a mile so now $0.254/mile. If you do another $4,500 in repairs and maintenance on the car over that 80k life, then you're at $.31/mile. But we haven't paid taxes or insurance on the car yet and I assume that the fixed cost is just the note on the car.
So, that cost probably isn't too far off, even though it's pretty short of the IRS number. How much of the $16/hour gets eaten up by the expenses, though. Drive 20 miles to do a job and now you're making $10/hour.
But really I'm just procrastinating going out and finishing up the RV prep so I can hit the road for Daytona....
In my case $100 per week covers the my insurance it runs $4200 per year because I'm in the delivery category (personal use about $1500 per year) I include all the insurance even though I could reasonably exclude the $1500. The other fixed cost component is cel phone if I didn't need it for work I'd probably ditch it.
The $0.25 is gas maintenance and vehicle replacement, and this is a budgetary estimate it may be off but I don't believe it's different area code wrong.
My reason for doing this is we are going to move and I want the flexibility to deal with real estate. We live in North Vancouver north of hoighway 1. We expect the property to sell for ~ $1.4 million as a tear down. We'll move to a town on Vancouver Island we can see from our house and make a move that is down sizing financially. ( this is me being honest about motivation)
