my windows and door wall are fairly drafty, so I installed the plastic heat shrink stuff for the winter. Drafts are gon, but now I have condesatin forming on the plastic and dripping onto the carpet and wood sills. Suggestions? mopping with a towel 3 times a day isn't realistic.

A small bag of rice? A sock full works for cars.

That is assuming it's forming on the inside of the plastic.

I did that in an apartment one winter. I also kept the curtains closed all the time. By spring, it was covered with mold.

Small hole for ventilation.

the water is on the warm air side, not the cold. Vent hole won't help.

Get a meter to check the indoor humidity. Sounds like it is too humid in the house. Indoor relative humidity should be ~50%.

If humidity is OK, then you have too much cold air leaking thru the windows and filling the space between the window and the plastic. Only way I know to fix that is tape up the edges of the windows on the outside.

I got old single pane windows in my rental. Yup. Condensation.

Put the plastic outside?

Dehumidifier and or ventilation. Keep the inside humidity around 45% and you'll be fine. My house is extremely well insulated and we get floods of condensation starting around 55%, so I run the HRV till it dries out.

Good idea on the humidity meter, I'll check into that.
