I wonder if this peanut shaped roundabout will get a lot of traffic at 3:30 am after the bars close?

That thing is perfect and wonderful in every way compared the the garbage around here, I'll hafta find overhead pix..
Interesting that they chose to make it peanut shaped instead of a obround which would be a more efficient use of pavement.
I love it though. Traffic circle all the intersections
Wierd how much news that thing has gotten this week. There's a double roundabout/rotary a couple miles south which has been in use for a couple years now:
This one is actually very beneficial. The north-south road is 55mph, and the railroad bridge created very short sightlines which become exciting when heavy trucks or farm equipment were pulling out.
We went from the old Kelley Square in Worcester with no lights and survival of the fittest:

But this one here takes the cake. I was gonna post a pic but this critique rly drives the point home..

This takes up less space though.
I suspect it also helps control the speed people drive.

Well...MOST people.
OMG, don't let the folks of NYS traffic see this. They've replaced every stop sign with a rotary, I-87 Exit 12 there are five in a one mile stretch.
But yeah, a sport bike ......

that sounds a lot better than 5 stop signs

I remember Kelly square. It was a free for all. Kind of going to miss it as it kind of defined driving in MA. Lol.

Can you explain why? I see the elimination of traffic lights and stop signs for yields and lower speeds making it safer for all. No more turning left in front of oncoming traffic either.

This one should have a driver-eye view, cuz it's small eough that you can't quite get a van through it without curbing. A 16' box truck is going onto all the curbs. But I gotta agree that it ain't as dum as the other ones..

The curbing in roundabouts is purposely designed for larger vehicles to drag their rear tires across since they travel a smaller radius than the fronts. I sometimes do it just to cut the apex a bit however!
I like roundabouts. The overhead videos do a nice job demonstrating that shiny happy people who stop IN roundabouts are shiny happy people. And shiny happy people who stop before entering an empty roundabout are also shiny happy people.

You have to stop before entering one when they have stop signs at the entry, which is most of the ones I see.
