I have to imagine that if he only had ankle injuries, he was wearing a HANS device. Sudden stops can be nasty. I'm sorry he's hurt, but I'm glad it's not more serious.
It's just my opinion, but motorized vehicles have no place in the X Games anyway.
Wow! That was a much longer jump than in Dallas.
I imagine they lengthened it because the cars actually had to slow way down just before the ramp because otherwise they'd jump too far and damage the cars.
And I disagree with the no motorized vehicles in the X Games. That was just about the most entertaining racing I've ever seen.

Nope. What we have is someone lifting before the car left the ramp. There is only one outcome of that, and it is smashing your face into the backside of a jump.
However, there definitely SHOULD BE something on the backside of the ramp to cushion a blow like that. rally safety equipment is designed for head-on collisions like this and it only would have been at around 45-50mph.
Definitely sucks for Topi though :(
Anyone watch the rest? I'm going to be posting all of the HD videos in the thread I made shortly :D
Somebody failed somewhere in the construction. High powered, lightweight cars are speeding around a track, their lucky he wasn't hurt worse. I hope the officials learned something and more precautions will be taken in the future.
If they just did it in Chicago, they wouldn't need to build ramps. Tested and proven.

Saw that. Nasty hit, but a real testament to modern safety equipment and luck. It just looks like poor design to me. I'm ok with them having rally cars in the X-games. But they need to plan the stages better. Why not have it be a table top style jump?
