ODB2 readers where are the good reviews??

I am looking to purchase an odb2 reader. the reviews I have read do not go into details, just how long battery last/nice case/good disply.

I need a scanner that can do some of the following:

read gas tank pressure sensor

control evap valve

abs function...what wheel encoder is bad

charging system... read current sensor

some bi directional functions.

If you know a site that will go into detail on the functionality of the scanner let me know.

there are 10 odb2 modes mostly for emissions, what is the mode for this other functionality?

The type of car is important. I know there are some decent German car focused aftermarket units, then there is aftermarket units for Ford/Mazda that use the aftermarket Forscan, GM has the OEM tech2 and GDS2 depending on the year which can be used Chinese clone hardware and bootleg software, GM can also be use other scan tools, I've had success with hptuners for engine or trans but I don't think it accesses other modules. I'm not sure about options for other brands.
