So, 2014 Equinox appears to be eating through O2 sensors and developed an idle/tip-in stall. I've replaced 3 O2 sensors in the last year, all factory GM parts.

It's an EcoTec, so of course it had a cracked exhaust manifold. I replaced that but it's still doing its tip-in stall. Code shows heater bank failure on a 4 month old sensor, multi-meter disagrees.

I'm starting to wonder if it's the ECM and I'm bracing myself for what it takes to replace it. I've heard of GM's ECMs being "VIN locked" to a specific key and that replacing the factory ECM with a junkyard unit or even a factory replacement is a pain (but not impossible). How bad will this be if it's an ECM?

Where are you getting sensors from? Lots of knock offs on amazon now.

If you clear the codes and reset the adaptives, then unplug the sensors, and the drivability problem is still there... then it is not the sensor's fault.

IIRC the heater circuit fault is more than just a resistance test, although it does do that.
