There's no 310ci engine option in the game though. The cars have to have a roll cage, race weight reduction, slicks for sure. I'm guessing Tom wants the Forza downforce items as well. Then, whatever you see fit to max out your car in A class.

No active downforce was allowed in Trans Am, which is how the street cars got the giant spoilers. So I would say no to that. Yes to full weight reduction and race rollcage. No to race tires! Back then race tires wouldn't touch street tires of today. Let's give em something slippery.
Rear diff, racing trans, and racing suspension are all ok to dial in your setups, but I think the engine mods should be played with to make each car "equal" since we can't down-grade the engine sizes.
I'm of the opinion that the cars should start at A600 with full cage, slicks, and as much tire as the game allows. Displacement is a non-issue since we can't be historically accurate, so go nuts in terms of other mods to bring it to A600 as far as I'm concerned.
The cars i built in the club garage were built with this mindset. I'm game for new ideas, and we can make adjustments as we get some laps in to equalize performance. Remember, this is just for fun.
And on another note- sorry I've been absent from the FM4 world. The new site launch has dominated my life over the last couple of weeks, but I'll be back in action next week I think.

I'm not opposed to that concept, but it would be hard to police/equalize. Do they squeeze in under b-class with less awesome tires?
I dunno, I'll have to build a few to see. I know I can get less modded ones to stay in C and B classes on the stock tires easily. I'm pretty sure we can make it happen though. Do lightning/rollcages, suspension, trans, diff, and whatever tire keeps them in B. Use engine mods to get to the edge of B before smacking A. That'll mean the big engine cars (SD 455, etc) will get basically nothing and the little engine guys (Z/28) can catch up. I'll try and play with it this weekend to get builds together.
These cars were squirrelly, drift-every-corner cars in the day so I think capturing that same type of racing and dynamics is important for the "fun factor".
Excuse Me, Coming through . . .
I really need to join tgrm . . . the club I'm in is a bit too serious. . . .

They had to based upon the stock spoilers though, and it didn't come in until the 70 season. And it was only on the front. We could possibly do the Forza front bumpers to get the right look.
I was invited to race the other night by a GRMer, i was so intimidated that i didn't accept. I'd feel like an A-Hole if i accidentally rear-ended someone going into the always-stressful turn one.
I picked up the Lotus eleven 2 yesterday. Bitchin' ride. You need a deft hand with it though. Otherwise it's squirrelly.
Got a Trans Am-style B500 Javelin made:
=B500 exactly. I cut a 1:52.9 on Laguna Seca with a TON leftover (on a controller and I suck). They have a little bit of grip but they'll burn the tires down if you ham-fist it. The extra RPM and gearing adjustability is great. Try it!
Any word on what the plans are for tonight, yet? I should actually be available. I've got the afternoon to work on a build Trans Am, B-spec, what are we thinking?
If nothing official pops up, try out the B500 Javelin I posted. Let me know if it's too squirrely or any feedback.
I've been using the shared garage's Daytona Coupe...that thing is a rocket!
Also, some links to contribute to the GRM Forza group.
A wheel database with weights included.
A car tuning spreadsheet. - I hear rumors of a smartphone app as well.
EDIT - After a night of play, this spreadsheet rocks. I had an '08 M3 that I had built to A600 levels. It was uncontrollable. It would over steer under braking. It couldn't put power down coming out of a turn without putting on a smoke show for the spectators. Just a mess. I used this spreadsheet to tune it and now it's a dream car. Powerful, fast, stable, and predictable at the limit. It still smokes the rear tires coming out of turns but now those antics are easy to control.
I was driving the Lexus IS300 today with the in-car view. I noticed on the steering wheels two buttons, one on each side saying, "Down." They're downshift buttons for the TipTronic Automatic IS300. But when my character shifted, he reached down for the shifter to shift. For some reason, it made me LoL. It might just be because my Auto Celica has the same tiptronic deal as the IS300 with the same buttons in the wheel.
I dunno, thought it was funny-- their test car must've just been the automatic, i suppose.
Hit driver level 125 earlier, now at 127. Bought a 250 TR off the auction house for a slight discount. Now I just need the Aston Martin DBR 1 to get the achievement for owning the five most expensive cars. Getting close to level 20 affinity on Chevrolet, but it moves pretty slow once you get around 15 or so.
