I am pretty sure a new Camry will smoke a Crown Vic around the track.
I suspect the P71 model (I think it was) Sauce was talking about that was being built is like a bit "up engined".

This is from Skyscraper over at TDT aka Brett from this article https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/articles/why-not-time-trial-series-old-cop-cars-spec-p71/
He's made it his mission to recreate these turds as accurately as possible in AC. He's running a winter series, but once its released or we can download the latest one, lets do it. I have the older rev of it though. We have run in TDT before. It races very well.
Back to current events, is anyone else having a lot of difficulty finding grip with the Radical in the low speed corners at AMP?
I've softened up the suspension and maxxed out aero... thinking about reducing rear anti-sway bar a bit?
I was having a lot of difficulty in those corners. I found that more laps helped more than setup changes.

I do understand FOV, and it will be a little closer. Unfortunately, I'm pretty seriously farsighted at this point, and my minimum unaided focus distance is around 5ft so it can't get that much closer. Getting old sucks.

Getting old does suck!
You know you can buy much bigger screens now, right?
In reply to ProDarwin :
Oh, yeah. That screen has been around for a while...
The plan is actually to go to a 3 monitor setup, but I need to fabricate a new frame first. I want to duplicate the ergonomics (seat position, wheel height/angle, etc) of our Miata race car in the sim rig. Had to get this move out of the way first. And I'll probably have to have a set of 'readers' made specifically for the monitor distance.
I initially wanted to go VR, and bought a headset, but it's just too uncomfortable for extended use. I also tend to get eyestrain related headaches because I can't get a perfect focus with them. They were fantastic for sim driving, though.
Cool, I like the idea of 'readers' specifically for that distance. Triples at 5' focal length would mean REALLY BIG triples haha
Results and Standings. Of note here is that the minimum points Colin can make next race is 15 (he still has a drop), which is 4th. The minimum Brick can make is 14, which is 5th. Which means, if Colin finishes first next week, he wins. If he finishes 2nd, Brick must win to tie. 3rd, than a 2nd for Brick ties, a win wins. 4th (the lowest he can finish), Brick must finish 1st or 2nd to win.
The most point Sauce can gain on Colin is 5, so no chance of passing, on Brick is 6, so 2nd is possible, but only if he wins, and Brick finishes less then 4th.
I would almost like to see a race with just the top four to settle this. We could then run a race with the rest of us to sort out the rest of the standings.
Not a bad idea. One race for the top, another for the lesser peoples. We would need two qualifying sessions though.
We could even have a designated announcer doing a running update on the race.... say, someone with some broadcasting experience....
We already kind of have 2 races going on. Sometimes us little guys get in on the act and have some fun, but in the end I think it is too much to get into. Lets remember the KISS principle and just continue to keep it fun.
Agreed on not changing the format, though a separate "race of champions" type of thing could be fun.
More of a half baked idea I came up with. I enjoyed watching the other night. It would be great fun to watch the top 4-5 battle it out. Maybe as a mid season brake type thing just for entertainment?
In reply to aircooled:
That was a rough one. This whole series has been rough. I was in that black and yellow 56 car, and until tonight, I didn't realize just how long I sat there on the fence contemplating my life choices after that furball at the start of the second race. That's not the behavior of someone who is enjoying himself.
Rather than push through the misery and then rage quit, I'm going to skip tomorrow night. I'll probably spend it watching some reassuring old Cold War era civil defense videos and sucking back industrial grade whiskey. See you all when the next series starts up.
Yeah, these cars are about 90% "hey these are pretty easy to drive" and 10% "what the hell just happened". I think the primary thing is just be super careful when they are under aero speed.
Tonight is the final race and next week will likely be a low participation (day before Thanksgiving) testing day. We will probably have another testing week just to make sure everyone is aware of what we are doing.
I will need to create a new thread for the next one because of the new forum restrictions and I won't be able to do it until we finalize what car it is.
You'll need to log in to post.
