Clutch

I just realized that we could select five of the cars from your list and run two races. One as a completely stock as delivered an then the second as a max tune. Or run one race each way each week as a series. I think a max tune Zonga would be a hoot.

In reply to failboat: Tsukuba Circuit isn't that good for a series, it's too narrow to get clean passes except for the second to last corner, and that's for small cars like some of the 90s Japanese cars. The Modern Muscle Cars are way too big for it. It's also too small for fast car series. Mid-field is in the regular rotation since it's a great track. We can run Tsukuba just to test on, however.

We have run Tsukuba in the past and it was with GT500 cars. It was a bit rough. You have to really respect the passing rules.

In reply to dean1484: I like the second idea better. I would likely find two more cars, then save the Zonda or whichever car is the best, and save that for a stock series.

Edit: A max tune Zonda needs aero!

I actually have lots of testing in the Zonga. Great car. It was also part of the Euro trash series and I was going to run it but another person claimed it first. This left spool and I with two days to pick cars and we were left with the two AWD cars. So Spool and I spent 4-5 hours testing the R8 and the AWD Lambo to get them to work.

I actually have to give Spool credit. That testing session was hugely helpful. Not only did we figure out the two cars and run over the competition but he was hugely helpful in teaching me how to drive. We give Spool a boat load of bs but he is a great teacher.

So if it was not for the Zonga getting claimed by someone else I would never have got to have Spool teach me a boatload about AWD cars in the game and how to run them. And driving in the game in general.

Yeah I know tsukuba isn't a favorite.. We can toss it as it was only listed as an alternate to the other tracks

Usually someone posts a list. We argue about it then Air ignores us and makes his own list and we run it. It is a Democratic dictatorship.

Tsukuba is a fun track to drive but too tight for most racing. The last Spec Miata series probably would have been fine, but with what has been proposed it just isn't a viable option.

As for alternatives, I do like some of the larger city tracks like Tokyo and SS Route 5. They have the lack of visibility of the city tracks without being prohibitively tight. And I know Dean hates Tokyo

Heres what id really like to see , 10 user created tracks. Whether all copies of real tracks or fantasy tracks of a mix thereof.

It would require all of us taking the time to practise and learning depending on time available and in some cases just "WINGING IT " think about it boys ,

Just picture poor old " Spool the Fool " not nowing where he going from time to time

That would be a good thing in my books

Sounds interesting. There are a large number of pre-made tracks up at GT Planet that you can look at (since creating a track requires an Tablet):

https://www.gtplanet.net/gtplanets-gt6-track-of-the-week-road-america/

Let's see if we can come up with some ideas.

BTW, Spool is primarily an AutoX'er, so he very experienced at running tracks he has not seen.

Yes, that's right, you have fallen right into his little trap!

We may have to not allow jump tracks (sorry Spool), but we are certainly doing one for the mid-season break! Hey wait, rubber band race at a jump track! Mid air head ons!!

Is it just me or do the eifel layouts seem to have less grip than death valley or andalucia? Not sure of its something to do with the track surface or ambient temperature or what.

It's unfortunate (imo) because it seems like 80% of the user made tracks end up there.

Aside from that eifel is visually boring as hell.

I like the homemade tracks, even if we can't use a jump track. Speaking of jumps, the latest update says it fixes the undulations at the start of anchor points.

So do we have a testing list for tomorow? Or are we going to continue testing what we have been. I still have to work on the euro GT car series I was looking at. I am almost thinking that a similar rule set as the MMC rules may work.

It I really interesting that by equalizing the weight of the cars that when the pp is then matched the performance is then matched. I want to try this formula on the euro GT cars to see if it holds true.

If this turns out to be true it is an incite into the actual way the performance of the cars is measured. And will help putting together future series. It will also let us run weird combos of cars. I am betting that having a common driveline is important as is keeping the suspension setting to the default race suspension.

I may be alone here, but I'd vote to keep testing/tuning open for one more week. We're only 5 days away from when the series is supposed to start and we don't know what we're running or where yet. Also, with Thanksgiving (except for Mudd ) some people may be traveling for the holiday weekend and be unable to attend.

Yeah, we should do that. I haven't even had time to setup the new thread. I will not be available tonight either (Dean you will have to cover), but I should be around for Sunday.

Sounds like there are at least a couple of good ideas for the second non-tuner series (assuming we do the Modern Muscle series) and we always have the Lotus as a backup.

I would suggest continue messing around with options, maybe try a few custom tracks (will require switching rooms), and talk about / test, some handicapping options.

I will be around. No real plan on my part. I will be testing my gt idea and we can test what ever others are interested in running.

If we get enough people I would like to run a couple mini races with the group.

Ohya I have to test the holden to see if it fits in to the MMC group.

Good racing last night guys. I practiced more with the stick, but it will take some time. I definitely like the GT cars better than the Modern Muscle Cars, but it will be good to run one this season and run the other one the next season. Also, try to remember to pick up a few of the cars on my list so we can know if some them are good enough to run for the group.

I will also suggest some different tracks that we should run. Also, have a Happy Thanksgiving.

The GT cars last night were a big success. The formula was 550 pp and 1500 kg on sport soft tires. Everything else was the same as the MMC cars.

There are some big differences in HP but lap times were very close. We also tested the C7 corvette with these specs and it fit right in. Mudd tested several other cars that I did not know about and all fit in very well. As we all get use to these cars our lap times dropped. The great part is that the California with these settings is actually a very competitive car. I am going to have to do a more comprehensive round of testing similar to the MMC cars and rank them. I also need to come up with a final list of cars. I will need to get the cars that Mudd tested and look through the dealers and see if there are any I missed.

The only down side to these cars is the cost. They run between 100 - 250 k each then you tune them. So the grab bag ruels could get expensive. I think this could be a great series and since I already own almost all of these and have tested them so the money end of things is not an issue for me.

I hope we get more people this Sunday as we should test these with a bigger group.

I also want to test this tuning formula on another set of cars. I am thinking either AWD or FF cars and see if it would allow for mixing and matching groups of cars making for interesting mixs of cars that are all competitive with each other.

The last test is to see if this tuning formula will work across different drive lines. This would open up all kinds of intresting groups of cars.

I hate to say this bit I like the GT cats better than the MMC cars. Last night was grew fun. We should test them with race hard tires as it may slow for closer racing. But I am not complaining about tge Ss tires they have enough slide in them to make the cars very realistic.
