Interesting that the overall best lap time in any car is only something like 8 seconds faster than the GT3 cars. I would've thought that an LMP1 car or one of the formula cars would be much faster. Are those times on the leaderboard just from PC users or does it also gather console times?
In reply to T.J. :
Given that it's through Steam I would assume it's PC only, but there shouldn't be much difference. Same physics and tuning and the people are all using wheels.

That fastest lap at Silverstone in the Audi was actually done with a gamepad. That is wild.
Either way, what I originally wanted to know was what is a lap time by a normal person that I should be working towards in preparation for next week. I think my best lap so far is something in the 2:06 range, but 2:08 laps are more common. I know of three corners that I can gain time in once I figure them out a little better. I won't have nearly as much time into practice and setup as I did for Zolder or Brands Hatch, so I'm not very optimistic for this one.

Here are the qualifying results for the bottom of the field from the AOR Silverstone GT3 race from YouTube. 22 cars in the 2:00-2:01's.
Looks like they were running 2:02 laps at the pointy end during the race with heavy fuel loads. Not sure what the track temps were. Hopefully I can make some time to practice tonight and find a few seconds.
What version of Silverstone is being run?

I believe Brad said GP circuit - I hope so because that is what I have been working on.
To get in on the Dean "incident": One thing I noticed is that before the AI car turns in on Dean he runs his outer tires on the grass in the straight before the corner, then right before he turns in his outer tires are on the grass again. It's possible his rather abrupt turn was the result of being on the grass.
I managed to pass one of the faster AI cars on that corner. I probably got there a bit before Dean did, but if you establish a position early enough they will normally back off rather abruptly. It's also possible that is exactly what the AI car did, but because his outside rear tire was on the grass, his abrupt braking resulted in a rather sharp right turn in.
That being said, I do support any Dean+wall action. Makes for good TV, and it does make the points race more interesting. Now, if we could just teach the AI the Spoolgrind....
I don't think any of us will be in the AOR speed range. I'm in the 2:05's and there is some left but not a bunch. Certainly not 3 seconds.
I am over that now. No amount of wining on my part is going to change a thing. Still sucks that I get screwed two times in a row by the AI but what ever. I am just going to take them out from now on.

I 've gotten some laps in the 2:05s, but still seem to hang out more in 2:07-2:08 range. Did a 30 min race vs AIs this morning. Won by less than a second. Dropped into 2nd once from an off, but managed to get P1 back at the loop. Then just barely held the AI off till the end. Not sure what settings for AI were at, but was glad to do 15 almost clean laps. I still need seat time before Wednesday.
I'll be happy if I can get down to consistent 2:06-2:07 laps. Still trying to learn best way through a few corners
Thinking I may run some laps tonight anyone around?

I drove 500 miles yesterday and 500 miles back home today. About half the miles were on twisty turny mountain roads. I should've counted the number of switchbacks
I need to practice, but thinking I'll skip tonight.

I had a very similar couple days, except throw chasing 4 kids around a water park on a day in between.
Sorry I missed last week, and I’m likely to miss this week too. I had 191 gear boxes sent to me at work for rush repair and I’m putting in lots of overtime to knock it out. Not much free time but the paychecks sure are nice.
I'm on the mend but still not 100%. I'll probably rest until Wednesday and see if I'm up to it, and if so just throw an existing tune in and hope for the best.
Did three 3 simulated races and tried tweaking things. Even though I feel there is more to be had all my changes made me slower. It was a case that I try to improve one part of the track and I make two other places worse.
Best one off lucky lap of a 2:04. Race laps were averaging 2:06 over a whole 30 min race with no fall off.

My Brands Hatch tune worked the best. It is modified a bit from my previous tune as it was to loose so I was not getting a good drive out of the corner
On a tuning note a trick I have figured put is to watch your stability control light as you accelerate out of corners of it comes on you are not getting good drive out of the corner. Tune the car(don’t adjust the stability control) to try and get the stability control light to come on as little as possible. This means that you are getting as much power to the track as possible and the best drive out of the corner. This will usually make a car tighter but with proper tuning will mean you get the power down more and sooner rather than sliding the car with the power.
I also found in my tuning that aero affects these cars at speeds much slower than I think it should. Aero was having an affect on first gear corners. In particularly the last set of corners before start finish where I come down to first gear and power through. Aero changes had a huge impact on the cars performance through that section.

I did a few AI races today. I finally feel better about this track. I needed more downforce. Made a few other tweaks, but aero was the big thing for me.
Aero needs to be balanced with your dif and brakes. It is a fickle mistress at this track. Getting it right is huge.

I started from a clean sheet for my setup. I stole a setup from one of those freakish hot laps, opened up the brake ducts and radiator and then went from there. Not sure much didn't get changed along the way. I know I changed the brake balance, down force, brake pressure, the differential settings and tire pressures, roll bar settings and I think I even messed a little with spring rates. Either way I am to the point where I'm going to put a freeze on changes and just practice with what I have now. The biggest change that got me the last couple seconds was messing with aero and then the diff.
I still haven't completed 15 error free laps, but I have done it without offs or spins, but just with a few mistakes that cost a few seconds per.
Should be a good race. I don't know why, but the AIs seem a lot more competitive on this track than they did at Brands. With them set at 79/30 I never build a comfortable lead and I certainly don't lap the last 3 or 4 cars like I would at Brands. I guess the AI likes wider tracks with longer straights or something.
I have not won a race with the aI set at 75/25. Mostly due to errors on my part. But ya they seem to be much better at this track.
Brad. Is tire ware set to real or 2x. At 2x making the 30 min would be tough on soft tires.
The other thing I noticed is the the difference between the soft and hard slicks at this track is quite dramatic.
Ohhhh. That is going to change things. Softs may not make it. More testing tonight is in order.

Just based on track temps, I would think the hards would be the go to tire choice for this race. I didn't mess around much at all with softs this time around unlike the other two races where I ran them.
Softs made it with out issue for me with the ware set to realistic. I am going to have to test to see if I can make it at accelerated.
