I'm beating my head against a wall trying to get my GT6 back up and running. Somehow my game data got deleted between 12-28-16 and now. I downloaded all 11GB of updates and it always fails to install. I have tried deleting the game data and re-downloading the updates probably eleven times. Sometimes it just freezes, I have left it running for 24 hours and nothing happens, no HDD light or anything the system just locks up. Other times it'll install about half and get an error message and then it'll get an error message instantly and it won't do anything but throw an error message unless I delete the game data and re-download all the updates again.
I really have no clue how to fix this.

Ita been a long time since I had to deal with ps3, but it sounds to me like whatever you're updating has a corrupt file from the download spot. I did a little searching and didn't come up with anything recent, but a little history back to 2014 says this isn't a new issue. I'd start there.
I found this, guess I'll try it as nothing else is working.
Steps to address the “Installation Failed” issue:
Backup any save data file to PS Plus or on a USB drive and delete existing save data file from the PS3 prior to update process (If you don't have any progress, then you can skip this step.)
Within the Games tab of the XMB select Game Data Utility
Highlight GT6 Game Data and press the “Triangle" button and select DELETE (if there is no data, then go to the next step)
While connected to PSN, highlight the GT6 game disc/game file from the XMB
Press the “Triangle” button and select “Check for Updates”
Accept the update prompts and begin patch process via the XMB
Allow the first 6 patches to download and install.
Once the 6th patch has finished installing, press the “Circle” button to cancel the download process
Scroll left while on the XMB, and highlight the Settings Tab
Scroll down to the Network Settings tab>Internet Connection and select DISABLE (this step will prevent the title from trying to complete the remaining TPPS patch process)
Boot GT6 and follow the in-game prompts until the main menu appears. (this step will create new save data which will later be deleted)
Once the initial in-game installation process is complete, press the “PS” button and Quit the game to return to the XMB
Return to the Settings>Network Settings>Internet Connection screen and select ENABLE
Highlight the GT6 game disc/game file and press the “Triangle” button and “Check for Updates”
Once the first patch has completed it’s download/install process press the “Circle” button to Cancel
Repeat steps 10-15 until all TPPS patches have been installed.
Copy save data from step 1 back to the PS3 system (overwriting any existing save data that may have been created during the update process)
Although fairly complex, this worked every time.
Hope it works, we could use you at the races, the "southern boys" look to kick our butts.
This includes a REALLY southern guy in New Zealand!

I'd buy it and line up with you, but I'm terrible when having to race clean. Ask anyone that forza with me, I prefer sideways for points.
Nick I know this is drastic but I am having a similar issue with my GTA and it was recommended I backup all my save game data and then do a hard reset back to factory spec.
I have not tried it as GTA is not somthing I really care about.
In reply to mndsm:
Spoolpidgeon is sideways 99% of the time while gapping the field 10 seconds a lap You don't have to race clean, just don't hit anyone else
In reply to Nick (Bo) Comstock:
I remember those days
After some progress still having failures. If I can't get it after a couple more tries I'm going to nuke it from orbit.

Looks like that's going to have to happen.
I followed the recommendation I posted earlier and it failed to install the first six.
Then I started doing them one at a time. Got the first, second and third to install but the fourth just will not install. I think that may have been when the Sena cars came.
At this point I'm going to try a factory reset and load GT6 before anything else.
If that doesn't work I guess I'll start saving for a PS4.
And??? Did you get it to work?
