This Saturday October 26th, I am redoing the Non-Native Tour of Dayton road rally that I did back in 2016. WOR members hounded me into redoing some simple road rallies and I became the defacto RR chairperson recently.
I decided to run the 1st one I ever did, it's been long enough to be new to even the few that did it back then. About 1.5hrs running around Dayton visiting tourist sites from the perspective of someone not from the area... Google Directions said it's roughly 36 miles.
This time it immediately follows Dayton Cars and Coffee, which regularly attracts 1000+ cars, and we have a good weather forecast coming up! Kenny made this one a Trunk or Treat, so it should be fun to see who decorates and/or hands out treats to the kiddos. He knows how much I like the Star Wars costuming, so I plan to wear the stormtrooper costume for this one.
Where else could you do a car event with a stormtrooper at the start telling you to "Move along, move along"? Starts at Austin Landing, ends at the Greene for food. Start of the rally is immediately after the C&C but flexible, 10-11am is a safe bet.

I had 13 total entries which is pretty good for a first-time since 2016 event, and it was a range from sporty things to an old F150 from the 80s (manual) to three motorcycles. No one got lost, one person missed the first checkpoint. Everyone said they had a great time and was offering suggestions for more checkpoints and ideas for the next one. I made two vinyl decals and gave them away based on answers to "what do you think Google Directions said in mileage for this?" The answer was 37.0 miles.
I'm thinking 2-3 per year mostly in off-season times, maybe one of those in the middle of everything. Already compiling a list of potential stops.
Very cool. Makes me want to set something up down here in Cincy! Do you care if I shamelessly steal your whole model? Did you collect any donations? I have a few charities Id love to lobby this effort towards.

I was telling SWMBO about your glorious finish!
I did not do donations for charity but that's not a bad idea. Feel free to "model" your events similar to mine, something something "imitation form of flattery"...
