I plan on racing a lot next season and because of the distances involved, and my distaste for spending money on fuel, I plan to tow to the track in my little car. I current;y have a pretty light 4X8 HF type trailer that I've added sides and floor to, but I'd like something new, lighter, and interesting. The HF unit will do the trick, but I like building stuff and I'm looking for ideas.

My initial thought was something like this

But I think I want the ability to tow 2 bikes.

There used to be a guy at the track towing with an Echo who had something that looked similar to a tow dolly. If I recall, the front wheel loaded up and over the axle where the skid plate part of the bike would sit, and the rear wheel would just be dangling. That would be prefect but I can't find anything like it.

Anybody have any ideas, good, bad or ugly?

I'm all ears

After working out the weight; three tracks as the pic has two for bikes and one for an EZ Up style shelter to lie on. Add a box made from expanded metal to make a trunk for gas oil and any required pans to catch nasty fluids.

I always used a HF 4x4 trailer to tow my dirt bikes. I used a 4" C channel for the bike to sit in with an aluminum truck bed toolbox mounted next to the bike. The bike was offset to one side to accommodate the toolbox. I really liked the aluminum toolbox since it was light, and I could throw gear etc in the there. A gas can mount on the trailer is always nice to have. The trailer was low enough that I didn't need a ramp to lid my bike, I could pick up one wheel at a time.

My Passat 1.8t didn't even know it was there. Perfect for far away races. Bonus point if you tow with a wagon  you can sleep in.

Something like this would not be to bad to weld up, may be cheaper to buy at around 2K though.

One of my riding buddies has that trailer. It's pretty slick, but I'm not a $2000 trailer kind of guy.

This is what I have now, with the awesome tow vehicle. I think I have about $100 into the trailer

I saw this one for sale today, it looks like the one I mentioned that looks similar to a tow dolly.

At this point I think I'll stick with something like the first pic, but I have to think about this style. It looks light and capable of hauling 2-3 bikes at the same time.
