Can a classic Trans Am rock something other than black with gold?

"Smokey and the Bandit" taught us all a few important life lessons: Everyone needs a Basset Hound, 400 cases of Coors beer, and a black Trans Am sporting a gold screaming chicken.

But what about that third item on the list? Could a Trans Am in another color scheme work? Pontiac did offer several options–like silver with orange, gold with brown or, as seen in "Hooper," another Burt Reynolds biopic, red with black and gold.

The blue and gold one spied at Mecum's recent Orlando sale, though, got us thinking: How do we feel about alternate color combos for the ever-loved Pontiac Trans Am?

A coworker has a white body with blue bird on it. It's sharp.

Umm.

White with blue stripes was the go-to on the T/A long before Smokey and The Bandit made black and gold the colour choice of every trailer park in the world.

I didn't know I loved brown cars until a friend's dad got this:

I love the blue, but in '79 this was pimpin... Then the 80's came and this happened:

I've only ever seen one this color in person, i wouldn't kick it out of bed, but I'd have to wrap it or something...

The later 2nd gen cars like these seem harder to envision looking good in different colors, at least to me. Silver seems to work, or dark green. Maybe yellow?

A '70 Trans Am looks good in about anything. An '80 Trans Am, not so much.

I loved the pushed forward scoops on the Formula 400 - likes it gets way cooler air into the engine bay. Great color with cool factory wheels although not a TA.
