Going to the Sun in a Shelby GT350

We just got back from what may have been our best trip yet. We were lucky enough to drive our project Shelby in the 2013 Going to the Sun Rally. See the full story in the January 2014 issue of Classic Motorsports.

We’ve been on this rally before, but the organizers stepped it up this year, upgrading the food, hotels and somehow, even the scenery.

This year’s route followed a different path. Instead of staying in Montana, Idaho and Wyoming, we went into Washington and the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. The scenery on this drive was breathtaking.

The event is limited to just 40 cars. Next year’s route goes from Glacier National Park to Yellowstone and beyond. This part of the country is also quite beautiful and offers even more open roads. We want to go again and would urge our readers to join us on this scenic tour. Subscribe now to read the full story in print.

Calling All Clubs: Meet Us at the Mitty

Looking for a rewarding yet low-impact event for your club? Why not bring everyone to Speedfest at the Classic Motorsports Mitty? This Road Atlanta event takes place April 25-27. You bring the club members, and we’ll help with a dedicated car corral, parade laps, tent and more. For details, email Rick Goolsby or visit themitty.com

“The car is a ’52 Gläser-bodied Cab—was most likely built in late ’51,” writes Al Taylor. “It is complete and has been in dry storage for 37 years.” Fewer than 250 of these Porsches were built, and only a handful of survivors remain. Al is brokering a sale for this one, and the owner is very aware of the car’s value. What’s this restoration going to need? Pretty much everything in the Eastwood catalog. Email Al Taylor for more information.
