Free Cars are still out there

damn, story that starts this thread made me teary eyed.

The Hot Rod issue with The Flintstone Flyer car is the only picture/article/literature in the garage.

More history...Our car was converted to SBC in 1971. The car ended up in a garage until a family member needed the storage space for their personal belongings. It was stored nearly 3 decades before being drug out to the field behind the garage. We picked it up from the original owner and son as noted earlier.

We are shooting for a 1963-4 C/G or D/G look/style/whateveryoucallit. We mounted the engine last week and the whole fam was working on sheet metal and roll bar and etc this past weekend. Kinda cool when Mama spends time with the family in the garage on Mother's Day making templates and cutting out sheet metal pieces.

We got this "gem" for free in 2010.

Almost two years later, we have completed two 24 hours of Lemons races, and are getting ready for our third. Best free car ever (to me).

Worked on the floor boards today. Had a great day.

So it wasn't free.....but for $200 it has decent 1967 Chevrolet fenders, Chevelle doors, (2) 56 Chevy fenders, new in the box rockers, set of 15" aluminum slots, fiberglass front end. 

Yup... it's a 1955 Chevy 2 door for $200 with parts. It found us tonight. 

I want that 55.  But like everything else, I don’t need it.

Seeing that 55 Chevy for $200 made me fall out of my chair while eating breakfast. I probably need a roll bar.

Heavy influence. Similar stance and look. Probably more of a 2Lane/Graffiti mix.   Two lane was flat with American Racing 200S wheels. Graffiti was semi with chrome reverse. I like the 2L flat and the Graffiti reverse. I like the 2L windows and gutted. I like the Graffiti hood (small scoop).  Most likely a SBC/4spd/9", both the 2L and Gr were BBCs.

It is rougher than the 60 Lark, so it will get the unibody treatment similar to what you see in the 60 above with the body ties and the flooring.  

Backstory - seller told the Speed Shop Manager he wanted it gone. Speed Shop Manager reached out to his regulars. We got there first. Motivated seller. Very motivated buyer. $200...done.

Oh man... the Nelsons take on a Tri Five, and it's my favorite year Tri Five to boot!  Nice score!!!

I had a 56 from when I was a teen until the late 90's.  It was the car I did everything with.  Small Block, Big Block, 4 speed, AT, raced it, Pro-streeted, built my first rear for it, first painted car, first set of home built headers, first home built wiring harness, first narrowed rear, my first welds were on that cars....

1967 Chevelle doors and fenders. Very fixable. 

Free cars.  Sheesh.  I guess with a great reputation come great things.

Around here if it is still recognizably a man-made mechanical device of some sort people think it's worth $1000.

For those who don't know, the same 1955 Chevy was used in both movies.

The average cost of my last 2 running BG chassis cars is $75.
