If you're sharing passwords among many sites, it would be a good idea to change the passwords.
It would take some logic, but if your information is the same between the sites, a motivated hacker could use that information to log on to this site. There's not a huge risk here, since about all they could do is run up your post count.
If you use a site that stores your credit card information, however, you'll want to change those passwords for sure.
I may be ready to abandon Jalopnik. Things like this make me mad.
And Jalopnik has gone downhill. It may mainly be the posters, but it's getting obnoxious on there.
Thanks for the advice. I'll check my other sites.

Actually I was more thinking about the fun canoe aspect, but it shouldn't really be a problem
Agreed. I was a starred commenter on there, but I packed up my things and left last week. All the commenters who made it what it once was have moved on to greener pastures, and the Toyota banners really pushed me over the edge. I removed it from my daily rotation, I'd rather get my news elsewhere.
I've never gone to Jalopnik except for following a link from GRM. The comments have always made it seem like a place that there was no reason to even create an account.
It used to be a few years ago. People like engineerd, Ash78, Charles_Barrett, etc. There was some comedic gold. Now it seems to be going to way of Autoblog.
Now this, and the big push from the bank, credit cards, electric company, phone company, cell co...to "go green and pay on line!!!"
This is why I stopped all that when my identity was stolen last April/May. I'd rather pay an extra dollar or two for a paper statement, and buy a stamp. My paypal account is now a reloadable debit card. Load it for the amount to buy, and that's it.
Yeah, Jalopnik seems like kids hanging around telling stories trying to one-up each other....ocasional gems, but, for the most part, junk.
It can be good for news because it gets updated frequently but the comments are a lost cause anymore.
Unfortunately, Gawker does not have an account delete option yet, though they claim they are working on it.
If you have a Gawker/Jalopnik account, follow the link below, go to the "Update #2" section, follow the links and instructions there, and you can see if your e-mail address was part of the leak. Your Gawker account should be tied to a "garbage" e-mail account anyway and if the password is used at other websites, change it!

I was already fed up with Jalopnik's Unique Page View obsession....they have gotten rid of some very good writers (Murilee Martin and Sam Smith) because of it.
